What's normal weight loss?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys! I got sleeved Tuesday 5/5 I'm down 17 total from when I started my two week liquid pre-OP and 7lbs down from surgery Tuesday- is this a good path? I haven't been able to get all my Protein in yet, I think today will be the day I do! I started at 258 and I'm 241 today. I'm just so nervous about losing enough during the "honeymoon" phase!

Seems like you are right on track! It seems incredibly common to hit a stall a few weeks after surgery, but the loss will resume so don't get discouraged if it happens to you. Sounds like you are doing great working to your Protein goals, it sure makes recovery easier!

Don't compare yourself to anyone. It will just frustrate you. Just be happy to continue to lose , even if it's only 1 pound a week. I'm one if the slow losers, anywhere between 1-2 pounds a week but I never hit a stall so I'm happy

What she said. Too many variables (age, gender, starting BMI) to really know what is "normal". As long as you're losing, you're doing great!

Okay thanks guys! I did get dizzy today I think it's just over exerting my energy without having enough calories- had this happened to anyone else?

Lol I had about a 3 month bout with dizziness. Definitely lack of calories or low blood sugar. Was actually going to see a doctor about it, but it finally stopped about a month ago. I still get it once in a while when I stand up too fast. That's when I know it's time to eat something!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
