45678 3 Posted May 8, 2015 I had surgery a few days ago and just realized that my port is 2 inches above my navel! I told the doc right before surgery that I wanted it closer to my ribs. I plan to get pregnant in a year or so, so I hope this doesn't get in the way! also I hope it is not visible after i loose weight!
terrydumont46 1,954 Posted May 9, 2015 That's right on your waist isn't it? if it becomes a problem I understand the replacement of the port is very minor surgery. so don't worry.
KateP 359 Posted May 9, 2015 That might be uncomfortable around the waist! But don't worry, if it does turn out to be a problem it can be replaced and re-sited. It is not uncommon for people to have them moved after the fat has gone because if you lose a lot, the port can show.
KateP 359 Posted May 9, 2015 Actually just to add, are you certain that is the port? Sounds like a daft question but if you have several incisions, it may not be that one! It is very common to get a seroma- a very hard lump formed by fluids secreted by the body during the operation. After a couple of days these solidify and then are eventually (weeks or months later) re-absorbed into the body. I was sure I knew where my port was - a hard egg-sized lump - and was very surprised to discover one day, about a month post-op, that it had totally disappeared! And reappeared under a different incision!!
45678 3 Posted May 9, 2015 I'm assuming it is the port because the hard lump is next to the 3in scar, the other 4 are very small. but I do hope you are right kate p! I'm so glad to hear that it can be relocated because i would not want it to interfere with a growing uterus! Thank you
gowalking 10,790 Posted May 9, 2015 Now that I've lost so much weight, the port sticks out like a golfball under my skin. Sometimes it's visible if I'm wearing a clingy top or dress. I may switch to a low profile port if I continue to be bothered by it.

devonmichelle77 10 Posted May 20, 2015 Not really, unless I was laying down. Doctor would touch it and "say we have a hill here", and I'd "say nope just a port she's over here".
