I don't know about the rest of you that have been banded, but this brick in my chest is really annoying. be glad when its gone Congratulations on your surgery. Glad you are feeling well. As for that Brick (mine felt like a bolder) mine went away after about a week. That so far has been the worst part. Now I am just trying to learn my band and follow the rules. Huge life change I can tell you that. Good luck to you and hang in there. WOW! August is a big month for banding. I wonder if the other months have as many? If people keep making this operation more known (by having it done) all the Dr.s are going to have to take a course so they will know how to treat their patients when we come in for every day problems. That's a good thing. n.
nuddybuddy 0 Posted August 18, 2007 Can anyone relate? I have been craving things like frito chops & FF's. I just want to suck & lick the salt off them, but I know if I stuck them in my mouth I would be in trouble cuz I would give in & eat the whole bag!! Guess we'll go thru these cravings. I had my surgery 10 days ago.:cry

singdeborah 0 Posted August 19, 2007 my shoulder still hurts so I called the dr. He had me go in for a CT scan looking for a Pulmonary Embolism, which thankfully isn't there, but the pain in my shoulder is still keeping me up at night so they gave me more pain meds. I'm thinking that somehow I pinched a nerve or something like that? Any thoughts? The band part itself has healed great. The weight is just dropping off right now. I know that's temporary for things to go this fast. Probably Water, but feeling great other than bad shoulder pain when pain meds wear off. I probably will go see my primary care dr this week to see if it's something else. Hope everyone else is doing good!!! I'm going to try to get into a support group here in town but I continually forget on the night I should go. OOPs...it's that over 40 thing. I don't think the band helped my brain any. Not dealing with any mourning right now, and no hunger issues either. I am able to drink a lot of fluids though, perhaps that's why. I will start on pureed food in a coupld of days. I asked them if there was any reason my shoulder should be hurting & they said no. But later I found out that you can have gas pains there too. That's something I didn't know & they should have. They told me putting your arms up over your head & kinda waving them around helps with that, along with alot of walking. Are you sure some of it couldn't be gas? Where are you from? I'm from Elizabethtown, Ky & go to Louisville for my doc.I was craving salt really bad for awhile. I wanted to grab a chip or a FF & just lick & suck on it but I didn't knowing I would eat them all. My craving left after I started straining creamy Soups. & oh do they hit the spot!! If you're looking for a buddy to go thru stuff with let me know. & when can hook up on here or any other way. TTYL.

I had my surgery 10 days ago.:cry I can relate! When I did my liquid diet a year ago, I had to get blood work done every 2 weeks. I was always extremely low on sodium. The doctor had me drink bouillion every day to up my salt intake. When I got banded, I forgot about that, and got really nauseaus. I was throwing up for a couple of days until I remembered the salt. Now I drink boullion every night, and it's really helped with the salt cravings. I feel a lot better too.

zuchinno 4 Posted August 19, 2007 Blech, I hate boullion, but I know exactly what you mean. I can smell EVERYTHING much much more and it's torture. I can smell stuff like snap peas and I'm getting an Iron craving but not for meat. I desperately want stuff like broccoli with soy sauce on it.
homew6kids 0 Posted August 20, 2007 homew6kids,Thanks. I recently started having creamy Soups & straining them. This has really helped my cravings. How are you doing on your journey? Well, can I just say that I loathe Soup? And boullion, and anything hot really, at this time of year... I don't think I'm all that fond of soup even when it's cold out! So I am surviving... maybe a bit grudgingly :tired I am anxious to get a fill in a couple of weeks and really start losing. My poor metabolism is so confused. I've been on the Protein Shake diet for a month now and I'm down all of 13 pounds. Seems... paltry for the effort. I'm hoping when I hurt less I'll move more, and that will speed things up. I've been walking mostly, and I'd like to get to the gym to do more. The kids are back in school in a couple of weeks so I can really put some effort into it then. I never really was a soup person myself, except for potato soup w/cheese but I'm making due.I haven't seen my doc. since surgery. He said not to come in til week 6. I would have hoped I'd get a fill by week 4. Don't know how long I'm gonna make it. I need a fill so I'll be full , but then they say that sometimes it takes awhile to get the right amount of full. Guess we'll just have to be patient & work hard. Keep me posted as to how you are doing.
PigsRFlying 0 Posted August 20, 2007 OK, so I know that what I am about to say is really HIGH in sodium but, hey, it's better than breaking! Ramen noodle juice! It is good and different.....VERY salty!
