I am just over 4 weeks post op. I had my sleeve done on the 7th Of April. Everything has been fab! I have had no problems eating, did the puree stage and now easily managing soft foods. Since Monday 4th of May I have had severe diarrhoea I did have a small curry on Saturday which was not particularly spicy in fact it was rather mild. I Just wondered if that could be the cause. I am not keeping anything inside me, it is just coming straight back out. My hubby is very worried that maybe something is wrong with me sleeve. I think it is bug and will speak to the doctor if I am still like it tomorrow.

I just wondered if anyone else has suffered with extreme diarrhoea and what the cause was and how you managed it please?

Could be completely unrelated to your sleeve. After all, I am sure you had bouts of diarrhea in the past as well, just like everyone else in the world. Definitely make sure you are keeping up with your liquids, since you are much more likely to get dehydrated. Try something like G2, since it has sodium in it that can help you retain more Water. I agree that if it persists for more than a couple of days, you should talk to a doctor, whether its related to your surgery or not. Because long-term, dehydration could become a very serious issue.

Thank you Jamie for you help, it is much appreciated. I am doing my best by putting as much Water inside me as I can drink. If I drink tea or juice my body doesn't like it one bit. My tummy does seem to be getting less gurgley and niggly, so I hope that it might be easing.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
