snowkitten 371 Posted May 6, 2015 Has anyone had an RMR performed? Did you find that it helped weight loss significantly?
Hengirl 26 Posted May 7, 2015 I just had one as part of my pre-op work. It says my resting rate is 1987 calories per day. Years ago I was part of a study that did an RMR test and then set our calorie intake at that amount. I lost a pretty steady 2 lbs a week then.
snowkitten 371 Posted May 7, 2015 Thank u for respinding. I was beginning to think no one would. So as long as u eat about that amount you will lose? Mind I ask how much u weight? I have an appointment next week to have mine dont. I'm excited. I've been eating 1000-1200 and not losing so I'm curious as to the results.
lmblakes 17 Posted May 7, 2015 What does this test involve? I've never heard of it.
snowkitten 371 Posted May 8, 2015 They use a machine to test your oxygen or something and it tells u how fast or slow your metabolism is.... I'll let you know more details after I get it done. Apt is wensday
Hengirl 26 Posted May 8, 2015 They clip your nose shut and you breath through a tube connected to a machine. It takes around 10 or so minutes. You must be fasting. No caffeine either because it will create a false higher RMR. I was told that they put patients on about 500 fewer calories per day than their reading. I am still going through all of my pre op spots and meet the doctor next week.
LisaDomalewski 79 Posted May 8, 2015 do you get these at your regular doctors or at your surgeons place?
snowkitten 371 Posted May 8, 2015 I didn't get it done at either, they didnt even mention it....I had to make an appointment with someone at my gym.
VSGAnn2014 12,992 Posted May 8, 2015 You can also enter in your basic stats (height, weight, age, exercise levels, lifestyle aspects, etc.) at www.myfitnesspal.com, and the site will calculate your RMR or basal metabolic rate for you. It would be interesting to compare those results with the ones you're going to get next week. Let us know what you learn, please.
snowkitten 371 Posted May 8, 2015 Your right, that would be awesome to see how it compares ! I think the biggest difference is that the one on my fitness pal is only based on numbers where as the one at the gym is based on numbers AND your oxygen levels. I'm really curious to know why it is I only eat 800-1200 calories and I'm not losing. I'll keep u informed

I'm really curious to know if you got to the bottom of your stall. What were the RMR results? Did it give you any insight that helped you figure out how to shake the stall? It's concerning if you were only eating between 800-1200 and had stopped losing weight. I'm wondering if you were eating too little, perhaps, and your body had slowed its metabolism to conserve energy? 1 ZinNH reacted to this
