Thanks Leslie,

My fill went great! No pain at all and very quick. I did drink my bottle of Water, but had to do so much slower and gurgled alot! I think I might have a little restiction now. Nancy put in 4 cc and my next fill is in 2 weeks.

I met Jurema and a number of other really nice people that have not found their way here yet. I gave them the name and hope to see them here sometome soon.

How did the rest of guys do?

Susan already knows how mine went... VERY PAINFUL!

My port is to the side and it took 3 trys. the pushing and pulling around my port is what caused all the pain

Sorry to hear that Jurema. Doddie63 who was at our preop seminar is having trouble too because here port is on its side. I had specifically asked to have mine in the bikini area and woke up with it between my boobs. It sticks out and my underwire lands right on it. It is always bruised and I have to take my bra off as soon as I get home.

I've heard a few ladies mention that wearing a bra hurts at times, I guess I'm lucky that I don't have this problem but the port area is still very sensetive.

Hi: Donna D is right. My port is on its side and the needle has to go in at a pretty steep angle. The doc out here in Vancouver took 20 minutes of trying and I looked like a black and blue pin cushion and couldn't do it so I flew back to Nancy who did it in two tries. Now I have to go back to my doc with instructions. Reeeeeeeeealy looking forward to that. I think if I can convince by DH, I will be going back to dear Nancy. Doddie

Susansilver sorry it took so long to answer you but I forgot my password and kept trying until it knocked me off. I had to go to work so I couldn't get a new password until now.

Yes, apparently it can be moved but I believe there is a cost. I don't think I should pay anything as we discussed it twice before surgery. I think he forgot or it was just easier between the boobs. I am really po'd. I will make an appointment to see him and discuss it further. I hope moving doesn't involve much because I lift heavy stuff for work and can't take another 3 weeks off.

I agree - since it was discussed and unless he had a good reason for putting it there - then you should not have to pay. Let us know

Hi Doddie,

I was banded May 2nd by Dr. Yau. I had my first fill Monday and though it the fill itself was great (no pain or anything). I have PBed almost everything I tried to eat yesterday. I really think it was because I did not chew well enough so I will go on liquids for a day or two and then try again.

Yes your are right. Most pbs are because we take too large a bite and although we think we are chewing it is natural to swallow after about 12 chews. So inadvertantly, a chunk can go down. I was told (belatedly) that one should not eat for 24 hours or more after a fill as the enlarged band could cause the neck of the stomach to become swollen. As for me, I have always been a "quick chewer" and as a result for the first two months, I was pbing everyday. Now, I have gone two weeks without puking as I make myself take small bites and chew and chew and chew. Doddie

Hey susansilver, i probably saw you there, but didnt actually meet. Im sure you know who i was...the youngest one there. How is everything going for you 1st fillers. I hadnt felt ANYTHING before the fill...i was eating fine...not i see what everyone who got something stuck was saying. OUCH, the gas, the hickups....it sucks! Is this how its like forever, or does your stomach get used to it and the gas subsides or what.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
