Zachnchrissy 9 Posted May 6, 2015 It's very hard not to cheat. I cheated the 1ST week pre op but not the second...once you get your surgery, that's it. Their ain't no going back. You really need to dig down and find the will power to do this. I understand the hunger and the desire for food but this is only temporary. We're not going to be on liquids for ever. I'm 9 days out today and I'm just now up to full liquids and I would kill for a burger but no way I'm going to chance it But yes your liver will be fine
AvaFern 3,516 Posted May 6, 2015 Today is Wed...you have more than enough time to follow your diet until Monday and your liver will be fine. I was only required to be on a liquid diet for a week, and I cheated and had some cheese puffs on Thursday when my surgery was Monday. The main issue is if you eat gut busting meals between now and then, your liver may be large and they can potentially crack it when they go under it to get to your stomach. Commit to following the diet right now and you will be fine for surgery.
knf7111 5 Posted May 6, 2015 It hasn't been horrible cheating! I ate some deer hamburger once and chicken once but today i accidentally not even thinking about it took a bite of dang spaghetti!!!
GEAUX SAINTS 143 Posted May 6, 2015 I didn't even have a pre-op diet. My liver wasn't fatty, though. Just put it out of your mind and get back to work. I know it must be really hard, but you can do it. Don't let guilt get you down. You're worth it!!!
Kathy812 794 Posted May 6, 2015 I cheated a few times, not condoning it but it's my truth. I still had my surgery, lost 15lb's in preop. Btw, my surgeon told me my liver was bigger than he wanted it to be but he was still able to perform the surgery. Best of luck!
headhunter75422 1 Posted May 6, 2015 I cheated and it feels like all the wind left my sails. I will not give up though, time to pray. God Bless all
