Well I made it home safely, being driven home wasn't as painful as expected. The pillow trick definitely helped. I was in the hospital for 24 hrs, not to bad if ya ask me. My inscision's are looking really good for just a day out. They glued the outside, so it's seamless. For the most part the staff at hospital were nice. I definitely wasn't fawned over, I did have to ask every 3 hrs for pain meds. I wasn't given a morphine pump like so folks do ???? it was very inconvenient I tell us.. But at least it kept me informed when I received and outta pain. post-242829-14309324502168_thumb.jpg

Wow! Your incisions look a million times better than mine and we had surgery on the same day! I'm definitely a bruiserattachicon.gif ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1431307616.699134.jpg

Wow you totally are a bruiser. I usually am, but not this time. It's probably because I've been so faithful with Vitamins and such. Today has been an even better day pain wise. How bout you?

I've had zero pain. They gave me pain meds midnight after surgery and that was it. Guess I'll take the bruising over the pain. I have 1 incision that's a little sore, but pretty sure that's because I'm incapable of staying still. Up/down, up/down. Here's the bruise from my iv start attempts, so definitely a bruiser! Oh well, they go away!!! post-253683-14313082765048_thumb.jpg

Damn girl ???? that is some serious bruising. You are lucky with the pain part. I typically have a very high tolerance for pain, but not the typical reaction with this journey. Wowsa lol my inscision's are just in general, tender. I've had no problems sitting still at all. I'm shocked that I've been able to rest as much as I have, considering me and my partner have a 4 year old son. He kinda understands I need my rest. He's been super sweet coming upstairs to ask if I need anything.

I could really use some more pain meds. I'm gonna have to call doc tomorrow and see if they will give me more. I sure hope they don't give me any problems with it. I'll be in big trouble if they don't. I still need them..

Congratulations, that's amazing ????????????❤️ feels so good to actually be losing weight doesn't it. Each day I've gotten up this past week,I've not had that dreadful feeling of, omg how bloated am I going to feel today in my clothes, or how tight are they going to feel on me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
