You didn't share much info..so I might be off base but uber low carb makes me stoopid. During weight loss phase, walking into walls...Haha..was a sure sign of needing carbs.

I apologize...I was sleeves two weeks ago today and on a full liquid diet. Just noticed I have been spacey or loss of words or what I went to do...forgetful. Just not normally like me to not be able to find the words I was going to say and space out.

I was sleeved on the 15th of April and I too noticed a forgetfulness during the liquids phase. I couldn't find the words I was looking for when conversing. Id loose my train of though easily, etc...I found it improved as I got to the purees and mushies. Maybe the anesthesia was still working itself off too.

Yes, I have noticed it has happened to me also. But it could be a number of things for me. Hormones, getting older...wait...

What was the question?

I am 6 weeks post op and just read the symptoms of Ketosis which can include being spacey! I was really worried but I am assured this, too, shall pass! Most of us will experience the Ketosis because of the carb restriction....I have experienced most of the symptoms including headaches....but am finding my perspiration has an odor I have never had before....I live in AZ and summer is starting but I think this is a side effect of the surgery....anyone else had this happen?

I experienced some random forgetfulness and I'm usually on top of every detail. I'm 8 weeks out. Still very tired and wondering when that will go away. I'm doing everything as instructed. My work isn't suffering but it's been non-stop, plus stress since going back.

Well went for follow up today and doctor said it could because of being on the liquid stage and the body adjusting. Now I can go to next stage and slowly introduce foods. I have lost 13 pounds in two weeks! Today I have finely cut up egg beater eggs that was good. I am hoping the spacey/forgetfulness will go away once I get to eating food! Thank you everybody! I appreciate it!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
