Better bald than dead. It will all be ok in the end, or it isn't the end

Many say that Protein and the supplement Biotin really helps. You can also use Rogain to help it grow back thicker.

My date is the 19th too. I've been taking Biotin for years because my hair's thin too. It definitely helps it grow. So new growth fills in pretty quick. I was told by a friend and my dietitian to get 80-90 grams of Protein daily. My friend had the bypass and followed the rules and never lost her hair.< /p>

I had the bypass in September. I hAve been taking Biotin since the beginning and I get more than my daily goal of Protein. In fact my 6 months labs came back and everything was in normal range. Biotin helps with regrowth it does NOT stop your hair from falling out.

I have lost 3/4 of my hair volume so far and am still losing everyday. Both my surgeon and dermatologist have told me that the only thing that stops this is reaching my body's goal. When the weight loss slows so will the Hair loss. Then it will start to come back in.

Good products and a shorter haircut have helped. Also it just thins, it does not come out in Patches.

I look at it this way, when I get to my goal, I will get some of it back. I would rather be thin and alive vs. thick and dead. Besides I can wear a wig if it gets too bad. Wig shopping would be a lot of fun!

I really don't want to lose my hair! Is it from losing weight so fast or low Biotin or low Protein? I can up the Biotin and Protein but no the pace of my weight loss

I was sleeved 8.6.15 and particularly as a woman I worried about this. I have mentioned to other fellow sleevers (and RNY) that just about 4 months before surgery, I switched to WEN, specifically 613.

I do not take Biotin, but do eat at least 60 but usally 70-90 grams of Protein a day (you will not be able to do this right away, but don't get discouraged, it will happen).

Eating protein & cleansing my hair with WEN, I had little to no Hair loss. If I did, I never saw it post op (mind you, due to insurance issues I went through the whole process 3 times, up to including the day of and three days before surgery, and DID see hair fall out then).

I waited a whole year before attempting the 3rd and final time, and before I even began started that regime. High protein & WEN 613. Yes, it costs about $120 a year, but so worth it to never have hair loss again.

I stopped loosing weight :( I did all the right things the doctor told me to do. I just couldn't loose anymore after the first year. I did maintain my weight and stay on my diet.

Curious why you're going from the sleeve to bypass within 2 years? If you don't mind :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
