Fair Life Milk - thoughts?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone tried the new fair Life Milk products? They are amazing and pack 19g of Protein in a single serving. The chocolate is my favorite and it's so much better than the taste of the Protein shakes. Only issue is that is has 17g of sugar and 20 carbs which is kind of high.

Do you guys think these are too good to be true? The sugar and carbs are definitely much higher than a typical EAS or Atkins shake. I plan on asking my NUT next week, but in the meantime...

I've seen it i the stores but haven't bought any. I use a HEB brand of lactose free milk called "MooTopia" The Fat Free version has 6 gms of carbs all sugar) and 12 gms of Protein per cup.I've used it all through the mandated weight loss, pre-op and post-op. It tastes just like regular milk but cost significantly less than Life Milk. I'm glad to hear that the Life Milk is good, so that on the days HEB is out of my MooTopia or when we travel, I'll have a good substitute.

Before surgery I fell in love with the chocolate fair life milk. Then my nut said no, to much sugar. Darn. Anyway, there is a fat free white fair life with 13 gr Protein per cup. I am using it to make pudding, hot chocolate, etc.

That is funny, my nut was pushing it on me like crazy. I am not a fan of the taste so I use my pre made premier Protein for my chocolate and strawberry fix.

I did not like the taste of all that sugar.

I actually made a milkshake with the chocolate and some Artic zero ice cream last night and it was amazing. It is kind of high in sugars/carbs, but as a once in awhile splurge it is great with all the protein! Or if I need something sweet, I have a quick swallow and it is excellent. I've had a container in my fridge for a minute now and it lasts longer than regular milk too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
