If you don't force yourself to eat or get enough in your sleeve can shrink or esophagus can get smaller because I'm almost 2 months (sleeved 3.23) and I'm still not getting enough in and im trying but either it hurts or i can only get 2 spoons in and im full idk...

that's a scary thought - never heard that one.

Hopefully someone will be able to answer that. I can ask the surgeon RIGHT before I go into surgery :[

@@jackiemc1987 I am thinking forcing yourself to eat wouldn't be right either - I don't know. Maybe you should post on another forum here like the veterans :D

I think the real question here is why are you still experiencing such extreme restriction 2 months out. By now your swelling should have gone down. Have you spoken to your surgical team?

I think the best thing you can do for yourself is go and chat with either your surgeon, or surgical team. I don't believe the tummy will shrink, or the esophagus, but I could be wrong.

What I think is right, though, is everyone progresses at their own rate, and comparing doesn't change that. Are you on solid foods yet? If so, maybe go back a little to soft foods. You may not be ready for solids, yet. Purees may be right for you for awhile. Check with your dietician. Good luck to you!

I'm 11 months out and I had many days and weeks where I felt like you. I did well always with shakes and liquids but I had pains with foods that just left me miserable.

I had so many pity parties and thought I'd never get to a point where I would enjoy anything again. I kept reading on here how many were just progressing so well.

My tastes were so off and the pains were so real.

Now, it's past but I still am only at about 4 to 6 bites per meal. Seriously. That's it. The denser the Protein the less I can eat.

And I cook these elaborate meals for my family of 6 and by the time I serve them I don't even make a plate because I've taste tested a few bites and I'm not hungry any longer.

It will get better. Hang in there. Keep hydrated and keep the Protein and your Vitamins going. All my labs have been excellent and I reached goal at 9 months. I'm 3 pounds under now.

Good luck to you.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
