iloveshoes 2 Posted May 5, 2015 Hi everyone! I've been a lurker for awhile. My first appointment with my surgeon is this Friday! I can't believe it's finally here! My insurance requires a 3 month diet, I'm wondering if that is just 3 months of the doctor monitoring my weight, or what it will entail? Also, if anyone would like to share what I should expect out of my appointment I'd appreciate it. He said it will take about an hour. Thanks! ~Donna
LousPeachy 100 Posted May 5, 2015 Hi Donna! I have my Seminar and first meeting with the doctor on May 22. I too am excited to get started. I just wish I hadn't waited till I was 67 to do this. Be sure and let us know what the Dr says and I will do the same! Louise
rwoods200 39 Posted May 5, 2015 Welcome!!! I'm sure you'll find lots of info and stories here so you'll be a very informed patient. My first visit with my surgeon was about 30 min and he basically looked over my medical files and the paperwork and discussed that I did qualify for wls. After that it was about 30-40 min with the Surgery Consultant and thats where everything was laid out a tad bit more about before and after surgery, what classes I have to take, the Nut and Psych appts, etc. Good Luck! mclorrie 219 Posted May 5, 2015 Welcome!! When I met with my surgeon, we discussed the surgery in detail, and she reminded me that this is non-reversible - I think she wanted to be sure I knew that this is what wanted. I also met with someone who went over all the requirements I needed to complete before my surgeon would clear me for surgery. I had to make an appointment with a cardiologist, two psych appointments, sleep study, as well as attending one group meeting. I had to do - six month supervised weight loss - required by my insurance. This month will be my last appointment. Each month for me, I met with my NP, and NUT. We discussed my diet, and they offered recommendations on my diet. I really never thought about it, but I really wasn't eating right! I thought this six months was going to take forever, but actually it's flown by! Good luck with your journey!
