Not sure the best place to place this. I was banded in September of 2009. When I was banded I was around 270 pounds. At my first visit I was 308. due to the lengthy approval process I lost a good bit before. I got down to 215 after surgery and creeped back up over the years to 247. I have been between 245 and 247 since 2010.I know my band works I have just not been working it. Plenty of restriction I just don't seem to lose. I really think I can pinpoint it to Exercise. As i get older my metabolism slowed. I also disconnected from this board and when you do that really take your mind off it. My insurance no longer covers Lap Band and When I called to get an appointment just for follow up they wanted to do the Xray thing which costs about $1500 that insurance will no longer cover. like I said my restriction is fine. I can be satisfied with 4 ounces of food and don't have alot of issues. Just don't know how to get back on track. I set up a new blog today and joined a gym Hopefully that will help. Wish me luck.

I think mindset is half of the battle and it sounds like yours is heading in the right direction. Good luck with everything.

Never ever give up on yourself. Every single day we make a decision to take care of ourselves or not. Today you have chosen to take care of yourself. Build on that and you can't go wrong. Welcome back.

I had surgery 3-18-15, I have lost since February 1st, I was originally going to have surgery 2-1115, but had gotten bronchitis . Anyway I have lost 52lbs. But for some reason I feel like I am at a stand still . I went to surgeon last week and got first fill 2cc's. I had only lost 3lbs. In Aprox 5 weeks . I am not going to quit , but I actually feel like I can eat more now then before the fill, only the 2nd day it was hard to get things down. I eat a lot of soft foods ,eggs, yougurt, oatmeal I do eat chicken like every night vegetables salad . What am I doing wrong ? ?? And if I can just help 1 person , don't tell anyone that u are getting banded. All I hear how much did you lose now ? Do you exercise ? Ect.big mistake , only should have told spouse andchild. Everyone else is just nosy . The biggest mouth of anyone , is my mom. It's to late for me not to mention it . I feel like a failure losing 3lbs. Certainly not saying that . I get frustrated trying to explain how it works , that it's up to me,the band is

:(a tool. They are all under the impression that you will drop it because of the band. Getting fed up !

I agree with you. I wish I would not have told anyone. I too am losing very slow. My dr. Says exercise every day and that should help. I know I could do better with the exercise.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
