Smooth Move tea! You can find it at Walgreens near the laxatives. You can probably find it at other stores too. It works great and doesn't give me the crampy, gassy side effects other laxatives do.

I use benefiber and it seems to work great. I take it once or twice a day (depending on how I feel). I add it to my Protein shakes, coffee, or just Water. You can mix it into yogurt or even apple sauce. I can't tell its in anything. Can't taste it and it completely dissolved. Give it a whirl! :)

Don't forget milk of magnesia either- that works great, and it's pretty gentle.

I am in the same boat and I plan to get suppositories on my way home. I wish I could go now. I have to go #2 so badly that #1 takes a back seat so neither is getting done. Smooth Move tea is supposed to be good and Chamomile I heard.

I will also be picking up miralax or benefiber- I drink plenty of Water but I guess that is not always enough.

I hope you find comfort soon.

No need to use anything but 3 dried prunes (pitted) softened in a mug of boiled water... Quick Blend it and next morning you are good to go. Drink this every night before going to bed...

Miralax is not supposed to be used long term. I have found Metaumucil works really well. I drink it 2x per day mixed with Crystal Light. You have to drink it fast. I don't think it tastes bad, but it gets thick. It adds bulk to the stool and it's the only thing that's really okay to use long term. I've been dealing with Constipation issues for years now since I was banded in 06.

Thank you- I noticed that about Miralax and I wasn't sure what to get so I didn't get anything. Well except the suppositories. I will definitely be adding Fiber because I am not a fan of body functions that make me feel like I need to see a therapist about

All I can say is I survived. ;)

the pain meds made me so constipated I thought I was going to have to go to the ER to remove the blockage. Holy Moly it was soooo painful. I used Miralax, and stopped the painmeds, and was normal the following day (after I finally purged myself of the "blockage".....OWIEEEEE!!) Good luck.

Magnesium supplement works for me. I am 5 months post op sleeve and was very constipated. My nutritionist said the high doses of Calcium required after surgery is making me constipated and the magnesium will help ease this problem. Well, she was right, solved that problem! I take 1 capsule Magnesium every night before bedtime.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
