2 weeks post op drinking speed

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have just entered pureed foods stage and have so far been eating at normal speed and I drank at normal speed during the liquids stage too. Should I be pacing myself or is it fine to drink/eat quickly at this stage?

Hi there and congratulations on your surgery and the beginning of this new chapter in your life. What does your doctor say about this? I don't remember any specific instructions about speed of drinking. I've always been able to drink well but there are many people who cannot go too fast for whatever reason. As far as thicker liquids like shakes, etc., I sometimes have trouble with those. Not sure why. I rarely do a shake anyway but sometimes I make one and then my band is finicky. Perhaps it's temperature related. Good luck in this healing phase and learning to listen to your band. It's a great time to be tuning in........

Thanks for sharing your experience, Bandista. I'm recently banded too and had been wondering about the same thing.

Thanks Bandista

I asked my medical team and they said to drink and eat slowly. Only sip drinks and eat a teaspoon of food waiting 30 seconds for the next portion. So I guess I have my answer :)

"Listen" to your band....when you are newly banded, your band is not giving much feedback, so the best you can do is follow the basic guidelines that will get you ready for the real thing....then you will know.

Everyone's experience it a little different because the band is adjustable, over time.

Congrats!

My doctor said you can drink/sip as fast as you desire but you should really slow down and take a break if you start to feel chest pain. I was told liquids don't hurt the band, just solids.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
