If anyone has seen my other posts, you know this is my 3rd weight loss surgery. Lapband/Sleeve and then Mini bypass on 4/23. I don't know why but this time is SO much harder !! I have zero energy, zero appetite, I'm struggling with Fluid and Protein, and I just don't feel like myself anymore ! I'm depressed and I'm just miserable all the time and feel like I just want my life back !! I know obviously all this can be pretty normal, I just needed to vent it to others who can understand ! Thanks for listening :)

I had the RNY on 04/13/15. My doctor set all the right expectations for someone who hasn't actually had the surgery. My expectations were off because my friend had her RNY in August 2014 and she was back to work in 4 days. I planned on giving myself 2 weeks. Now 3 weeks post-surgery and I'm still home.

I have had severe fatigue, dizziness, nausea and trouble with hydration and Protein. I was told 64 oz of Fluid, but I've found to maximize my energy and avoid dehydration associated nausea and vomiting, I actually need 80oz per day. The first few soft things I tried did not stay down. I can't eat eggs at all. I've had no hunger at all (or cravings, yay!), so I had to pay attention to my body for other signs. My indigestion that isn't resolved with Water is my new hungry. I still haven't figured out what full feels like yet, so I eat very little. I figure it will come with time. I am starting to get some of my energy back, but I do get exhausted after just a couple hours of any activity - Church, grocery store, etc. - regardless of the intensity level.

The point: Everyone is different, and no one's journey will be exactly the same. The wonderful dietitian at the clinic described the food progression as an experiment. It was a very apt description.

I have had a couple of "Why did I do this?" teary-eyed moments, and I expect I'll have more. However, I wouldn't change it. Despite the fatigue, I'm already feeling better about myself.

Good luck! Keep us posted, and I hope things go well for you moving forward.

Band 07 and Jennifer

I had my RNY on Good Friday. I have been sick everyday for a whole month. During my first week check-up I had lose 14 pounds. The next week I was dizzy, exhausted, constipated, I was waiting for the new found energy. I was in the hospital for 5 days for dehydration.

I was stuck in every spot in my arm looking for a vein for the IV and to get blood(one time I was stuck 8 times, because the IV came out ). I never realized it was so hard to drink Water.Eat and take pills wait 30 mins..drink Water . Lets not even talk about attempting to get in all the Protein.

I have also had my times when I cry and feel depressed. I guess I just needed to vent .

Hopefully, we'll be feeling better soon and start to enjoy our journey.

It will get better! The first month was the hardest for me. I'm almost 6 months post op and still have trouble meeting my 64oz of Water but everything else is going pretty smoothly. I hope you feel better!

I knew others out there would understand ! Thanks guys, I'm not saying misery loves company or maybe I am lol regardless, it's always nice to know that you aren't alone and for most this stage passes fairly quickly. Unfortunately I didn't have any choice but to return to work on my 5th day post op, thankfully I don't do much but sit at a desk though even that seems to take energy I don't have :( I blended some chicken noodle Soup in my food processor today and I have some bean and bacon to try later, hopefully just eating something, anything will help a little ! At least that's my hope. Again thanks for the replies and wishing you all, all the best as well !

I'm in my 7th month. I've lost 90 pounds since I went on the liquid diet. I have had about 30 seconds of regret - it is always followed by a massive dose of gratitude that I'm not carrying around a massive amount of weight that I could not lift. It isn't easy, that's for sure. I could always stand to eat a whole pizza or a half box of Pasta. But I have come to love a whole new set of foods. I try to focus on how much better I feel. I'm off my metformin, and my blood pressure meds are cut in half. My life is different in every way. Please focus on the good stuff. It will get better. Keep going.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
