Hello everyone, On Monday I begin my 12 week options classes through Kiaser. As a prerequisite I have to lose 29 pounds. Anyone have a exercise or diet regimen that worked well for them? I know during these classes we will meet with a nutritionist but just asking to see what works. As for dieting I plan to eat clean by eating no processed foods & no rice or Pasta. Let me know I have exactly 3 months and I'm gonna need them all lol

Along with no rice or Pasta, keep up the theme by not eating white foods, such as bread, potatoes...these are just basically sugars (carbs), with little or no nutrition. Stay away from sodas, even diet, as you won't be allowed those anyway after the surgery (at least most plans call for that). Empty calorie foods are going to be a thing of the past for you, after the surgery, except in very small quantities...do the same now! Good luck to you on your new journey! Keep us posted on your progress!

I was a BIG momma before my surgery journey. My surgeon does his sleeves outpatient for the most part (inpatient would have cost me another $5K and I did self pay) so he wanted me to lose quite a bit of weight before surgery.

I cut out starch (no potatoes, no bread, no Pasta, no rice, no corn) , no dairy, no sugar, no alcohol or soda and no fast food. I ate mostly lean meat and green veggies. Hard boiled egg whites saved me when I was really hungry and just needed something to eat. One large egg white only has about 17 calories and 3g of Protein. I also would make a cabbage based Soup that had about 40 calories a cup that I'd eat.

You can do it! Eat slow and and chew a lot because you'll need to get used to that for after surgery anyway.

Sounds like you have a good plan for the diet. As for exercise, depending on your fitness level, I would suggest to start with 20 minutes a day on most days, something like walking or elliptical. And then every few weeks, add 5 minutes. The main goal is to start sweating and burning calories. I started pre-op with walking for 20 minutes and sometimes I would do the elliptical for 5 minutes of that time but couldn't do much more. This morning I ran 4.5 miles.

It is truly inspiring to see someone so proactive about this! You should do great on your journey!

For me Weight Watchers worked great for the diet part...it is more of a lifestyle change...they teach you how to eat real food in real life situations and going to meetings really works, so supportive and uplifting...even on bad days...everyone has them, you forgive yourself and move on. I was only required to loose 10 lbs., but I lost over 30 between Oct '14 and Feb '15...and that was without exercising...and having lots of bad days :) Good Luck again!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
