Hello Ya'll,

I just got home from the hospital yesterday, after being there for two days. My surgery was on the April 29th, 2015. My left lower intesitnal area hurts thal region is sore worst, especially when i walk. ALthough my whole frontale region is sore as well. The staples are a little itchy at times. The biggest problem I think is gas. Make sure you get up and walk around often or it will build up on you.

I'm drinking Water, grape Isopure and chicken broth. I did have a orange sugar free popsicle today just to add a little flavor to my day. I'm taking pain meds every 4 to 6 hours, gas x strips (very important), B-12 nasal spray, daily Vitamin (twice), blood thinner shot, and pain cream. I will be glad when this whole healing process is over. I'm having a friend bring me a tread mill tomorrow so I can walk more.

I look forward to finding useful information here. Thanks! :-)

Congratulations on be on the other side. I had surgery on the 30th really sore but I will say the hardest part have been getting liquid in and the gas pain.

congratulations to both of you! I promise the pain will be gone soon and you will be well on your way to significant weight loss and much better health!

Don't forget use a heating pad when you are not walking. It helps with the gas pain and it just plain feels good!

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!

Congratulations. It will get better but it will also take some time. For me, it took 6 months to reach my "happy state", when all the issues were resolved.

Three weeks out from surgery and I started my pureed diet yesterday. Refried Beans, cheese and hamburger meat never tasted so good. For Breakfast this morning i had a scrambled egg. My stomach started aching a little about 10 minutes after eating it and lasted about 15 minutes. I hope it doesn't become a problem because I like eggs. I had a Protein shake mid morning, and for lunch I will have more Beans. My wife is making shredded chicken breasts in taco seasoning for supper, yum! I never thought I would be so happy to actually taste food again, it's great. In a few weeks I should be able to start eating solids again.

I have one incision that still has staples in it and it's still leaking a little Fluid. It was infeted but the antibiotics are working. I will see if I can get the staples out tomorow when i gomsee my family doctor. Next monday I go back to the bariatric center for a conference room meeting with th doctors and other patients. They are supposed to go over what we can eat adn what not to eat in the future. Looking forward to it.

Go slow brother... And keep walking.

The biggest challenge is too make sure you are drinking enough and getting enough Protein. Take your time... Eating too fast is the a hard habit to break and it can cause some discomfort if you don't go slow. What you bite sizes as well as you move to solids.

First month is challenging by the second month it all starts to come together. Listen to your doctor, dietitian, and yourself and you will do the right things. Hell you have come too far not to. The pounds will start flying off and then they won't and then they will... This journey is a bit of a roller coaster. Keep the faith!

I'm 6mos out and have dropped about 95lbs and I am not the most disciplined person when it comes to going slow and exercising. Have never regretted a moment during the last 6 months! Good Luck.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
