I mkae yonanas once in a while but only eat a little bit. I have my ginger slices. And, once in a real blue moon, I have a slice of CPK tostada pizza. Its very thin crust and one piece only.

Every once in a while I eat baked Tostitos with the white cheese dip that comes in a jar. It's pretty much the only cheese that doesn't make me throw up, so while it's a guilty little pleasure and I only have it occasionally, it is one I enjoy. Every couple of months or so I get a cakepop from Starbucks or one of their blueberry muffins and at Christmas I eat chocolate and Cookies, which I don't do the rest of the year.

I'd say I eat what I'm supposed to about 85% of the time, watch my weight and my calories, and then really enjoy a few bites of the good stuff when I want it. Fortunately now I want it every few weeks or so as opposed to everyday, so that has been helpful!

You have to live a little! I feel like my Quest bars are a cheat. Sometimes I will take a bite of my kids ice cream but I never order one for myself. I wouldn't be able to eat it anyway so it's nice to just have a bite or two and hand it back :)

I make a mozzarella dip and have it with a tortilla chip or two. The dip is low is carbs and 4-5 chips is the most I can handle so I don't feel too guilt but it is a lovely cheat or treat!

I make my salads reflect my favorite sandwiches. Used to love Italian subs and ham subs. So, on my salads I put ham & turkey, sweet/hot salad peppers, red onion & 1T light mayo mixed with red vinegar.

I make pizza on half of a Joseph's Lavash, sauce, part skim mozzarella, turkey meatballs or turkey pepperoni, peppers, garlic, onion, etc....

Near me, there is an ice cream place that has soft serve fat free/sugar free yogurt that they can make in over 50 flavors. I get a child size 2-3 times a week.

Quest Protein chips

I have learned how to sub zucchini or eggplant for Pasta.

Cauliflower for 'rice', 'tater tots', 'mac & cheese', etc....

snack pack sugar free pudding cups

Those are some of the ways that I 'splurge'

Thought of some other ways that I enjoy 'cheat' foods.

Protein powder mixed with Water and crushed ice, blended in a bullet type blender till smooth. Can add PB2 or frozen fruit also

Protein refrigerator oatmeal. My favs are chocolate covered cherry and banana bread flavors

flour-less Protein Powder pancakes with just a drizzle of real maple Syrup

faux-frying www.hungry-girl.com has alot of great recipes

Dannon Light & Fit 80 calorie Greek yogurt

Greek yogurt in place of sour cream

Hungry girl cauliflower potato salad (has actually fooled people at BBQ's) and cheesy butternut bake (tastes like mashed yams)

cauliflower & Laughing Cow wedges blended with and immersion blender till smooth. Tastes so much like mashed potatoes, I've served at Thanksgiving and no on knew!

I've had to discover and develop these recipes because carbs such as bread, Pasta, rice, potatoes and sugar make me crave more & more and make me very hungry. So now I eat those things rarely and in tiny, 1-2 bites, portions. The rest of the time, I can have the same satisfying flavors & textures and not feel like I am missing anything

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
