Cheated on Pre-op Diet Need Help!

Recommended Posts

:hungry:OK I am only 15 hours into what should be a 2 week pre-op diet, but I am starving. I had my low-carb Slim Fast as advised, have drunk enough Water rationed for morning, and just cannot seem to get rid of the stomach growls. What else besides lots of walking, exercise, meditation, prayer, etc will get me to the big day? I am excited as I did get the itwo nsurances letters approving for 100% coverage, now I just need to comply with doctor's orders. HELP I am fading.....

You know, if we could do it on our on we would not need the operation. The doctor should understand.

Hey I am right there with you. I am on day three of my two week liquid pre-op diet and yes I cheated as well. I had a broiled fish and salad (italian dressing) from Captain D's. At first I felt guilty, but I feel sooo much better and I have been continuing my sugar free drinks and yogurt. I feel I can now do it! I know you can as well! Good Luck!

My surgery went well and my Doctor told me I did great. I'm healing pretty good, I have a little bit of gas but I feel like I really want to burp it out. I don't even like soda but would love to have a sip to burp it all out.

I didn't do my pre-op diet. I know, bad. But no problems here. I know it's not a good excuse but I wasnt telling anyone about my surgery and my birthday was the week before so everyone was taking me out to dinner, dessert, etc! But I'm actually glad in hindsight that I didnt follow it perfectly. It made me feel less like I 'missed out' when I had surgery and couldnt eat anything! haha I know its bad. I dont recommend not doing your preop but I was just a bad kid. I'm 5 days post op and everyone is already telling me I look thinner. Havent weighed though.

I work in surgery doing lap band procedures and gastric bypass. I also have a band. I would stop killing yourself about what you ate! I has already passed and you need to stop beating up yourself about it. It will be OK! I am sure that you physician has had many people cheat. That is one reason you are getting this procedure to get help! If it was only one day or even a few days it is not going to make a difference and the drink you had will not effect the size of your liver!! We cannot do anything about what has already happened in the past we can only control what we do in the future. I know you will do great and be very successful in loosing weight. I would not even mention this to your surgeon! It will be OK. :clap2:

How long does it take for a meal to digest?:P

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
