I dont know if this has happened to anybody but its just happened to me the second time and its so scary.... I am 9 weeks post op and while in a deep sleep i gave been woken up due to vomit in the back of my throat it feels as though it is filling up my throat and the sensation makes me run to the washroom to gag. Its really scary because it could lead to me choking in my sleep bear in mind its happened twice in 9 weeks just wondering what could be causing it and has anybody else experienced it too??

YES!! It happens to me. I have found that I can avoid it if I don't eat anything for about 1-2 hours before I lay down. If I eat then try to sleep, it happens every time. I think it's just reflux. I try to remember to take a Zantac in the evening. That helps too.

It is very annoying sometimes because I work night shift and I sleep better during the day if I go to sleep with something in my stomach. Now I have to have my stomach totally empty so it wont happen. so sometimes during my sleep I will wake up hungry and have to make the choice food or sleep.

Glitter Eyes Nailed it...tomorrow is my 6month point and sadly I have had the same issue. I am careful with the choices I make on what I eat and when. I have had issues as well that relate to something simply not agreeing with the sleeve. Keep a watch on when you eat in what would be your "evening time" if your a night shifter then "early" am... Or simply time you eat before the time you laydown to sleep/rest. I have also incorporated aloe Vera juice. I heard it has healing properties internally. I feel better inside once I started to take it.. It can be found in the pharmacy area at any local Walmart as juice or can be found in pill form as well.

Hugs of support your not alone!

This has happened to me twice and only when I ate within an hour of taking a nap or going to sleep. Now I just make sure I don't eat less than two hours before sleeping and I always have a cup of tea before bed to make sure my sleeve is empty of food.

I had to take Prilosec at night before bed or would wake up so nauseated and have to Run to the bathroom. It helped.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
