Is, or did, anyone else have issues with some smells? Tomato based items, such as spaghetti sauce, bready things, like fried chicken (not cooked in my house, but eaten there), and the stir fry my family made with sesame oil. That oil was a killer. Today was the spaghetti sauce. My husband walked into the room with it and not two Minutes later I was running out of my house and into fresh air! Yes, it got me to take another walk, but geez! It is worse now than during any of my three pregnancies! Anyone else?

Yes! The night I was discharged from the hospital when I got home my hubby was cooking ribs. The aroma was overwhelming, I told him I couldn't hang with them downstairs or I would've been sick. I went to our room closed the door and opened the window. Then yesterday, someone's cologne or perfume had the same effect, I had to wait in the hallway of the hospital. These are the only times I've ever felt nausea. It's not every smell, cause they've bought pizza and chicken home and neither of those bothered me... Just some smells.

Yes. I actually believe that is part of being in Ketosis. It definately gets better down the road but it can be very off putting.

It happened to me all the time on the first 4 months with many smells, now it is just the smell of eggs for me. I cannot eat them because of the smell, they make me gag and ultimately I get sick.

About once a month I try them again to see if has gotten better and with everything else it has improved. eggs are still a bit of a hold out.

Greasy and sweet foods used to do it to me as well but that is now completely gone. Also perfumes/colognes.

It will get better!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
