Yes I feel better thanks... I'm taking it a little easier on the exercise front now though! Unfortunatley my weight loss has slowed right down but it is still going the right direction so that's good! What exercise are you doing? What are you eating? Is your weight loss still as consistent?

I'm biking 6+ miles 3x per week and Water jog for 45 minutes 3x per week (take Sunday's off...maybe just a walk with the kids). I'm on to soft/mushies and my weight is up slightly, BUT it's PMS time and I'm retaining water...today I've been pee'ing A LOT so I expect a dip in the scale soon! I'm not too concerned about my weight at the moment, it feels SO good to have that 40 pounds off that I'm just enjoying that for now. If I don't see a drop again in the next week or so, I may be crying in my canned chicken :) hehehe :)

What are you eating at this point?

kt....he didn't always use the x-ray but he is now in a surgery center when him and other bariatic doctors use the surgery center only for lap-band and adjustments! Also after 1 1/2 hours of recovery I stood there and watched my barium go down to assure there were no problems!

He just said they can be more aggressive with the fills when they can actually see how tight it is. Kinda looking forward to getting my first fill!

Man....you're weight loss is great!!!!!

Hello all,

I am new to this sight but am excited to finally find a group that I can talk to about my surgery. I attended a seminar last evening after doing research for about 6 months. I was greatly encouraged and have decided to do the surgery. My best friend came with me and she is doing it also. I am scheduled for August 1 and hers is August 6th. I asked lots of questions and new ones come up every second. I guess my main concern is how hard is it to suddenly stop eating? Since my surgeon dosn't fill the band for 4 weeks after the surgery am I going to be hungry and weak all the time? How many times do you throw-up? I really hate to do that. I don't want to spend all my time hanging over the pot. I know this won't be easy and I am prepared for that I just want to do what will cause me the least pain and I don't want to feel hungry all the time. If I wanted to do that I could just go on another diet. Help!!! Tell me how you felt the first weeks after surgery.

Thanks so much.:help:

Munchkin....well for my experience I have NEVER vomited!!! YAy! They gave me Phenergan suppositories...just in case! I will admit I have not been as energetic.....but every day is better! I would not describe it as weak....more just needing to slow down for a while. It's been 2 weeks and I've worked out the last 5 days! (cardio and light weights)

For the food.....I was grateful for something to MAKE me stop eating....slow down.....and look at what my body needs....NOT my head!?! But I did have a "scared" time before surgery....worried about giving up my addiction!!!!! Yes I get hungry......nothing more than before surgery....I'm told that will get mucho better after my first fill or two.... to find that "sweet spot"!

Research the heck out of this...make sure it is for you! And ask any and all questions! I know I have!

Hi MM

You are doing great with the exercise... I am impressed :-)

I am still having quite a lot of Soup but really can eat just about anything including egg omellete, tinned tuna and salmon, fish, prawns, any meat (so long as it is cut small and I chew a lot!), steamed vege and coleslaw. I am trying to keep calories down but do like the occassional bit of blue cheese! I also have the occassional glass of wine!

I am looking forward to getting back into the exercise and can't wait until I can go running again but I think I'll wait until 6 weeks post op to try running... stick with the walking until then.

SimplyMe

Thanks, I am very pleased with my weight loss but I did start dieting 8 weeks pre-op so it has definitely slowed considerably! I can't wait to reach my goal... I'd like to get there by my birthday (Nov) and buy something really sexy to wear :-)

You are doing great too... how are feeling? You area lower BMI bandster as well... what made you decide to go ahead with the band? I'm a chronic yo-yo dieter and had just had enough really... I looked at my future and saw a life long battle with it and just thought NO WAY!!!!

KT.....I once weighed 256 and got down to a size 4 by extremely hard work! Healthy eating....working out 6 days a week with a trainer!!!! I slowly gained back some of the weight as my children left for college....I was half way between my lowest and my highest when I researched the lapband.....I just wasn't sure I could do it again at 45 without a little help!!!! So I see my lapband as my choice of healthy "plastic surgery" so to speak!

Musicalmomma...on my first day after mushie stage I had gained 2 lbs.....now that's off and more! Plus I know it will happen again but I will try to be patient!!!!!

On the fill....I guess every doctor has his reasons....

But even the Inamed "Lap-Band" "official" booklet says 4-6 weeks for the first fill! But You're doing great without it so far....and then it should be even easier after that!

Just follow docs instructions. The purpose is NOT to throw up. If you do then you likely have eaten too much - too fast - etc etc etc. I was banded 6/18....am not hungry. I am following the diet to the T.....also getting my Protein in 80 grams per day..via whey bullets 42g and Protein shake 35 grams. Drinking at the prescribed times...and absolutely am not hungry. I eat my 2 tbs of food at meal time and my A"food govenor" is full.

Take care and do what doc tells you to do.

Hey friends,

I've been reading responses of what kinds of problems and issues people have been having and I haven't seen this one yet...

I was banded 7/13/07 and other than some Constipation, didn't think I was having any major problems. While I was in the hospital, my blood pressure (which is usually high, and for which I take Rx) was very low. My daughter and husband mentioned this, and the nurse said that it was a normal effect of the surgery, not to worry.

Since I've been home I've found it very difficult to exercise. I get very light headed and winded. I've been thinking it was because I was an out of shape woosse. Last Friday, I was puttsing in the garden, pulling up some easy weeds. I got light headed and the next thing I remember is my husband and a neighbor were standing over me trying to get me up!! My friend lent me a blood pressure monitor, and my pressure was 97/50. :faint:

I called the surgeon and after a bunch of questions about my diet and incisions (which were all in good shape) was told to talk to my primary care Dr. about Rx dosage. Of course the primary was out of office on Friday, so I'm waiting around this morning for them to return my phone calls.

Lesson learned: :lightning: Pay attention to physical symptions and don't blame them on what you think are your character flaws!

ML

Oh Marylou... hope you are feeling better soon? That is very low blood pressure, no wonder you passed out!

I saw my surgeon yesterday and he convinced me that waiting for a fill is best.. I am just so impatient (definate character flaw!), anyway I booked in for my first fill on July 26... 8 weeks post op :-)

Good morning everyone!

I am just getting into the sub threads, I guess I was a bit slow knowing they existed.

you are all doing great. KT I agree about the slow down with Mushies. I feel I can eat most stuff, but stay away from hard things, pizza, bread, etc( I am not to have that in this stage anyway, but would not even cheat on that!!). I have had some chest pressure with tuna, and poultry. so I chew more. No pbing, yahooo!

Exercise is still lacking. I walk every am with my dogs and dh but it is not enough. I know this is where I need to bump it up!

Simply your story was great, and probalby like most of us, yoyoers or those who have lost weight and it krept back. I am hoping the band is our last tool for a thinner life! I belonged to a gym and loved it, I just need to take the first step.

I don't know when my fill is, most likely mid July, I should find out Tuesday when I go for my next doc appt. They do by xray the first time, but after that in the doc's office, also for insurance to cover it too. Which is a good thing!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
