tnkrrbl 53 Posted May 24, 2015 Hey everyone. I'm 6 days POST OP BMI 33.1 at the start!!!! We have a Facebook group that is specific for light weight people. It's open to everyone but very much a buddy group Go on Facebook and look for; Low Starting BMI WLS GROUP It's a closed group meaning other people on Facebook can't see what you say or comment. Come join us. I find it easier than searching through the threads here By the way I went to TJ DR Maytorena and he was fabulous!!!!! $2999 all inclusive. It's a special price. In Mexacali he charges $7000
shancanssleevejourney 74 Posted June 16, 2015 I also had a lower BMI and just had my surgery June 8th. I'm so glad I did it, even though its been rough, its so worth it in the end. I too have got the "look" when I've told people about the surgery and have been told why don't you just diet and excercize? Duh, I've been dieting and exercizing for 20 years lol, and I want the yoyo to stop. I had several co-morbidiities so I did this half for my health as well as my weight. I would love to be buddies with you guys, I'm not quite sure how to find you again
CanyonBaby 1,852 Posted June 16, 2015 @@Jme82 I'm so sorry I haven't gotten back to you, it is nothing personal! We've been "introduced" to cancer in our family, my husband has been diagnosed with colon cancer, stage 4. So I have been crazy busy, and I hope I haven't hurt your feelings by not responding! If you still need/want a buddy, let me know, I will do my best for you. But keep in mind, I don't always see the posts immediately. Write me personally, then I'll send you my e-mail if you want to continue. All the best to you...

VSG_Hopeful 51 Posted July 8, 2015 I'm a bit confused, how many FB groups are there for low BMI? Before I got sleeved on May 21st I couldn't find any, now there seems to be half a dozen. I want to make sure I'm in the one from this thread. Can anyone help?
LauriTX75 75 Posted July 8, 2015 I made one and then someone else made one. But the one that everyone uses is Low Starting BMI WLS Group.
Nurse going to Mexico 11 Posted July 8, 2015 I had the sleeve on June 1st, so it's been 5 1/2 weeks and I started at 172 lbs (surgery day) and am now 160. Very disappointed at how much I can eat. No one will know i had the surgery because I'm not losing much. I lost about 8 lbs the 1st week and then like a pound a week. I can fit so much in my stomach and I still have hunger where as I thought I wouldnt
KiwiMum 9 Posted July 12, 2015 I'm a week out from surgery, with a BMI before pre op diet of 33. It's about 31 now. Pretty scared - mostly that I won't loose all the weight I want to, and that it will be a slow struggle. I'm self funding in New Zealand.
skinnyrita 188 Posted July 13, 2015 Nurse Going to Mexico give us an update! How did your surgery go? Hope all went well. I'm just now breaking a stall very common to those on this board. It took a while ( about 3 weeks).
skinnyrita 188 Posted July 13, 2015 Nurse Going to Mexico give yourself some time. You are still in the healing stage and your body is probably holding on to weight and Fluid from surgery. Immediately after surgery my weight loss was in literally tenths of a pound. Then it stopped for several days. Just stay with your program of getting as much "protein first" and Water in. Try to stay away from the scale a few days. Measurements can go down without significant weight loss. Pretty soon you'll be losing at a more rapid pace. Head hunger is just that, your head wants and craves things you used to eat , but your stomach is so small it can't hold much food. I ate past my restriction a couple of times and that made my brain get the message to quit eating a bite or two earlier cause it's sooooo uncomfortable. Pain meds make it harder to sense the restriction too. You can do this- just stay on track ????
Nurse going to Mexico 11 Posted July 13, 2015 It went well, however, I current weight 159.6 and my surgery day I weighed 172. It's been 6 weeks today, and I feel like the weight loss is slow. The majority of the weight loss was the 1st week, then like a pound a week. I can eat way more than I thought i would be able to. Can eat 2 slices of a medium pizza with no problem. I can hide that I had the surgery because I am able to eat so much. Soup goes right down and takes no room in my stomach at all. I still want food and feel hungry. All in all though I am glad I had it. The jury i still out on how much I will lose. As long as my weight keeps going down I'll be happy. It just seems super slow. Thanks for asking
