First day home from Gastric Sleeve surgery! Question about Isopure and protien?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

So I did it!! I had the band removed and a sleeve done at the same time.

Its a good thing I did, The surgeon said that I did really well on the surgery, but my liver and band had grown together and he had to scrape the band out of my liver and when there was bleeding.

I never would of thought 5 years ago that a band would grow together with my liver !

I am feeling really well to day I hope the sleeve will work and I will lose some weight !

Today is my first day home and I was able to get the 40oz of Water in.

My question is I have a case of Isopure zero carb Protein drink punch. 160 calories for 20oz of liquid.

Would you consider it a liquid or a small meal like a Protein shake?

I didn't want to sip it all day and stretch out my sleeve .But if its a clear liquid it would be a good way to get some Protein in.

I only got 20 grams of protein today. It took all day to get the 40 oz. of Water.< /p>

Do you happen to know of a tasteless Protein powder I could add to some Soup? or a good protein Soup I could order, that doesn't taste horrible? I ordered atira unflavored and it is un useable..

If you know any answers to my questions I would love to her from you!

Thank you

Hi ,
yes I posted it on the sleeve forum also .

But thank you for letting me know. I can see through it.

So I will start counting it as a clear liquid and try to get some more Protein in.

Thank you so much

It counts as both. It's liquid and it has Protein in it so the protein counts towards your protein goals and the liquid counts towards your fluid goals. Isopure makes and unflavored powder that can be mixed into Soups. It's the only Isopure I use. When adding to hot things I mix the powder separately, then temper it that in by slowly adding a bit of the warm beverage to the the Isopure to slowly bring it up to temperature, then add it all together. I never add it to direct heat since that makes it clump up. Slowly tempered in it mixes well and you can barely tell its in there.

Thank you for the feed back!

That is what I was hoping both Protein and liquied.

I am going to get some of the Isopure Protein Powder.< /p>

This is my first day home, so thanks for any tricks you have that will help get me in all the nutrients and what makes it easier to do this healing process.

Thank you :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
