I had surgery on the same day, and struggle with some of the same issues. There's a drink sold by Walmart called New Whey Liquid Protein that you may want to look into for the short term (it really helped me meet my goal yesterday). Anyway, good luck

I had my sleeve done on 4/29. When he went in to do surgery, he found that a portion of my stomach was in my esophagus because my hiatal hernia was so big. Also, my liver was extremely large so he did a biopsy. My starting weight was 205, I don't drink alcohol so therefore I'm worried as to why my liver was so big. I have to say that the only Protein Drinks I like are the Premier Protein from Walmart. To me, the vanilla is the best. It's only been 3 days & I have to say this is the hardest thing I've ever done! I am trying to have a positive attitude about this but it's so hard, especially when people are bringing over dinner to my family & I'm over here chugging on a Protein drink! Any suggestions?

I agree this is the hardest thing I have ever done, the birth of my son was a piece of cake n he was a 11 lb c-section baby. I also, had an hernia as well that they had to remove. I had Rita's sugar free n it gave me the runs not sure if that would fall under dumping syndrome.. food doesn't bother me b/c I cook for my family it's just the Protein Shakes. You can do this hun????????

I got sleeved 4/27/15 and I have a hard time getting Protein down as well because it's thicker. It helped me to walk while I sip. I try to walk as much as possible. Walking truly helps with EVERYTHING!

I was sleeved on 4/27 and also having a hard time drinking the Protein Shake. I like them but I get full. I drink Premier, Vanilla and strawberry. Got them at costco. I did blend the shake with ice. It's really good. Good luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
