Papaclough 1 Posted May 1, 2015 I came home just yesterday from the hospital. I had RNY on Wednesday 5/29/15. I felt very good when I was discharged and made the three hour trip home without problems. After not sleeping in the hospital I was looking forward to sleeping good in my own bed. It was not to be. I had to get up to use the bathroom and then again to take pain medicine. I was up at 2 for an hour and then back up from 5 to 10 and then back up at 12:30 thinking it was much later in the afternoon. Now it is just 2:30 and I feel like I have been up forever. I have some abdominal pain but the worst pain is in my left shoulder. I am wondering if anyone else has had the same kind of pain and what did you do for it? Alissak77 48 Posted May 1, 2015 It's the gas build up, you need to get up and do some walking, it will help!!
Djmohr 6,965 Posted May 1, 2015 Almost everyone has that pain. Alissak is right it is from the gas in your tummy. Getting up and moving is the best thing you can do. When you are resting whether sitting of laying, use a heating pad, it really helps. Also use gas x strips and drink lots and lots of Water in small sips. Good luck! I wish you a safe and speedy recovery!
