Carrie81 5 Posted May 1, 2015 (edited) Hey I am entering into weeks 3-4 of my post op diet. The literature provided states I am allowed pureed food but says I should eat 3-6 tablspoons per sitting and I am to have 5-6 sittings. Does this apply even when the band hasn't been filled? Is this because of the swelling inside? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I want to make sure I am doing this right! KateP 359 Posted May 1, 2015 Different doctors, different protocols! The reason for purees etc is to prevent the movement of the stomach during digestion and so putting pressure on as yet not fully healed internal sutures. Some doctors put Fluid in during the op, some don't. It is so long ago, it is hard to remember but I don't think I was given instructions about exact amounts during the purée stages. And I was told three meals! But at this early stage, just do what your doc says. Soon you will be able to work out your own path, but not yet! By the way, as a fellow Brit, watch out for different dress sizes and even liquid measures!
kwcrnp 63 Posted May 2, 2015 I'm almost 3 weeks out and I'm on puréed. I'm allowed 4 oz at a time which would be more then the 4 tbsp you mentioned. Each doctor seems to have their own routine! Even within my group each doctor is different! Stick close to what you're told. Few more weeks and we can start regular food and be filled!
