Low Blood Pressure/Dizziness

Recommended Posts

There was a thread a while back about dizziness a few months post-op. I finally went to my PCP on Tuesday and she is attributing my dizziness to low blood pressure. My blood pressure has ALWAYS been normal and even ventured up into the pre-hypertension range. I would say in my entire life, it's always been 120-135 over 70-85. At the doctor's office on Tuesday, they took it multiple times while sitting, standing, and lying down and it was about 95 over 65.

The dizziness has been an issue for a couple of months now, especially when I go from sitting to standing or lying down to standing. But sometimes I feel dizzy just when I'm sitting still.

She ordered a bunch of blood work and I got the call this morning that everything came back normal. She checked my B12, thyroid, Iron, electrolytes, etc. Now it's just a mystery and I'm hoping to go back next week for further examination.

Anyone else experience anything like this? If it's nothing that would show up in blood work, what else could it possibly be?

This is not that uncommon and has happened to some friends of mine after surgery. What has worked for one of my friends is keeping hydrated at all times. She is also careful to get up slowly. In the morning you might want to sit by the side of your bed for a few moments and give your body time to adjust.

This happened to me right after surgery. The dizziness was caused by my bp meds. At first, my bp was way to high 190/120. Doc switched my bp meds then it was way too low 80/60 (or something crazy like that). After a couple of days trying to regulate it, doc pulled me off the bp meds and my bp finally stablized. Good luck to you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
