Hi all! I'm 36 and have a BMI of 39. I have completed the 6 months of dr visits. And am now awaiting approval. I have Ky Passport and wondered if anyone had the same and how long that process takes for approval. Thanks!

I have WellCare as well. Did you have to do 6 months of supervised diet with your doctor to get approved, or anything like it? TIA

Today was my 7th appt, I have wellcare of Ky. My surgery is scheduled for Oct 24th. I've done everything required; psych evaluation, nutrition appts, had an endoscopy and my bmi is over 40. Have chronic problems too. Thyroid, back pain etc.

They are submitting my stuff this week. I assume they are used to Medicaid and know what to do. I'm still worried I'll be denied. Wednesday is all my preoperative testing.

I too have Wellcare, I am just now considering having gastric sleeve, Im curious about the process they will send me through. I am diabetic, my knees and ankles cause me so much pain I can barely move, I refuse their pain pills. I am 53 with a BMI of over 40. I am wondering what kind of psychological questions they ask..and what causes them to deny someone. Any info you can give would be wonderful..

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
