M.E.Flores 20 Posted April 30, 2015 Hi All! I've noticed most of you say you're on liquid diets for 2 weeks prior to surgery. My surgeon, dietician and head of the program want me doing Clear liquids only for the 2 days prior to surgery. I am on a lower calorie diet now and have been changing what I eat quite a bit and have lost 10 lbs so far, of course I'm going to follow what my Dr. Says, but just curious is the 2 week liquid diet something the surgeon or dietician or insurance requires? I'm having mine done at UCLA so I'm very confident in my surgeon, just curious! Thanks
Kristomoto 17 Posted April 30, 2015 I think is by the doctor, but I have a fatty liver due to my high triglycerides... So he can lift my liver easily while doing the surgery... This is my day 3 on the diet and is a challenge but I got to do it for my self

Stephanie Stroup McIntosh 157 Posted May 1, 2015 It is up to the individual doctor and won't hurt you if you would like to do a diet based on high protein/low carb shakes. Many doctors vary their diet based on the BMI of the patient. The goal is to shrink the liver. Stay away from fat and sugar and your should be fine.
