Cujucuyo 34 Posted May 12, 2015 Only complaint I have is I still haven't lost one pound and it's been 3 weeks Oh you'll lose weight, trust me. There's no way you can stall for a truly long time unless you're drinking lots of sugary drinks like shakes or smoothies.

Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted May 13, 2015 I found that it doesnt feel as bad when i drink hot fluids. im almost a week out and when i drink room temp or cold fluids it feels like i drank a bubble but with tea I can drink it like i did before surgery. HTH I agree. was going to suggest trying different temperatures (room temp or warmer) to see if that makes a difference. 1 hopekate reacted to this

Cujucuyo 34 Posted June 13, 2015 HELP! Has anyone's Dr told them gastric bypass was better for them but they wanted the sleeve? I'v been going crazy on the Internet and I'm starting to get really depressed. I don't want to make the wrong choice. Gastric sleeve is irreversible and gastric bypass is reversible. I didn't want my intestines touched which is why I decided on the sleeve. This small article helps covers the differences so you make a better choice: http://obesitycoverage.com/gastric-bypass-vs-gastric-sleeve-surgery/
mrsbailey921 117 Posted June 14, 2015 To those pains are normal. I also had esophageal bruising due to the robot "bumping into" my esophagus during the surgery and it made it difficult to swallow for about three months. After it completely healed I haven't had any problems! It will feel better eventually!
Cdagradi1 9 Posted June 15, 2015 It is definitely normal. I experienced the same terrible pains. It made it very hard to get liquids down. Luckily for me it all got so much better after day 4. I am now on day 9 and feel 100% back to normal and don't get those pains. If it is gas- I went to cvs and bought chewable simethicone and it changed my life that day lol it got rid of all the pains in my chest and abdomen. Good luck 1 hopekate reacted to this
Daisy Girl 38 Posted June 15, 2015 I am 5 days post-op with a hernia repair as well and I am having the same experience. The best way to describe it is I can feel everything travel down after I swallow. It hurts a bit and feels very weird at the same time. All I know is I can't wait for it to go away because it makes it difficult for me to want to drink anything. I feel exactly the same thing 3 days out. I figured it must be the hernia repair also. Katie Loesch-Meyer 71 Posted June 17, 2015 yup, it is from the hernia repair. I couldn't get anything down at all barely, so the doctor put me on something called Levsin, that stops those painful spasms. It really helps, and it disolves under your tongue. If I take it I can swallow mostly without any of the chest pain, or at least less. And warm fluids go down MUCH easier.

fuzzy1972 11 Posted February 4, 2017 Completely normal, here's a breakdown of the things that worried me that would be permanent and went away with time (I'm 2 months post op as of today): 1.) Drinking Water hurt my throat or my stomach as it went down: Went away after a week or two, now I can drink much bigger gulps than before and can finish a 10Oz glass in 2 minutes. 2.) Stomach pain as I ate Jello, soft foods, etc. ~ Went away after 1-2 weeks. 3.) Not being able to eat semi-solid foods without pain ~ Went away after 3-4 weeks. (Follow your doctors orders) 4.) After eating some semi-solid foods it got stuck in my throat - Went away after 4+ weeks (5 for solids), your esophagus is irritated/damaged from the tube they inserted during surgery. You WILL get that feeling if you do over eat a lot, right now I can eat 3/4 of a deep fried chicken breast without feeling like I'm about to vomit. Welcome to hell, but don't worry, it's temporary, we've all been there and it's all downhill from there. Thanks so much for the break down, it's so comforting to know others went through this and can help. Drinking anything too cold cam bring them on for a lot of people. For the first 6 days I had to heat everything to BODY temperature. For stuff stored at room temperature, 15 secund in the microwave did the trick. Levsin, Vistaril & Klonopin also helped. I've heard Flexeril is also good, but haven't tried it. MAKE SURE you eat and sip verrryyyy verrrryyyy slowly to help and IF you're eating -- chew it very very well. WALK WALK WALK WALK to help with your bloating and that will decrease the tummy discomfort and therefore you won't have pain when swallowing soon. Good luck, it DOES get better soon.... hang in there... I'm having this exact issue, unable to swallow fluids or eat as it's so painful with the pain.
