Massage Table Weight Limit

Recommended Posts

For those of you who get massages or any masseuses out there. What is the upper weight limit for most standard massage tables?

I was recently sleeved and am looking forward to getting a massage. I am trying to figure out a reasonable weight goal for a comfortable massage.

Congrats on your sleeve and journey! My husband is a massage therapist, so I have learned a bit over the years in helping him buy equipment. There is the weight limit on the table and then some have a "working weight" which means the weight of the client plus weight of the massage therapist exerting pressure. Many tables have a 500 lb working pressure. But GOOD tables, those that are used daily usually can take much more - for example, Earthlite tables are very well made and usually have working weight over 2000lbs. Most likely you will be fine on most tables as long as they are not of the cheap variety. I got a massage when I was about 400lbs at a salon no problem, but if you are worried you can always ask.

I was a massage therapist and used an Earthlite table. I bought it because it was squeak proof and the brochure had a pic of 12 people sitting on the table. Mine was rated to be bend proof and stable at 1200 lbs. I've had clients weighing over 400 lbs on my table. It's the only brand I ever used.

Who knew! I have not had a massage in more than 10 years for this very reason! I was afraid the table would crash with me on it and I would be mortified!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
