16 months out and Never lost a single strand. I also didn't worry about it, or the surgery or pre and post op diets or stalls. Mental stress is just as bad as physical stress. Never took Biotin or used special hair products. I've simply always gotten in all my Protein, Water, take whole food based Vitamins, and eat a healthy balanced diet including fruits, veggies and whole grains so my body won't be deficient in anything.

Me, too I had no problem whatsoever with hair loss. My nails got real brittle for about three months, but they came back nice and strong.

I thought I wouldn't have issues with this since at 4 1/2 months no sign of hair loss.

But right at about that time I did start to notice it. I have hair that is a little below my shoulders in length. When I comb it out after a shower I take my hands and run them down my hair and strands come out, not a ton but more than I would like. I see it EVERYWHERE in my bathroom (annoys me more than it actually falling out of my head)

You cannot see a difference when you look at me, but I can feel a little difference when I gather my hair for a ponytail. It doesn't really bother me at all, except like I said seeing it and having to clean it up all the time in the bathroom.

I have even highlighted my hair regularly like I usually do with no problems. it's not getting any worse so I am thinking it should be stopping sometime soon!

Mine has been falling out for almost 2 months, now ( I am 5 months post-op). I figure I have lost about a third. I, too, have been religious on taking all required; Protein, vitamins....but still the loss. It is now really slowing down, hopefully at the end of this. But it came out from all over the head, no one particular area. The most noticeable (and only I notice it) is around the temples. The gray is GONE there now! Not sure which is better, bald or gray?!!!!!

I didn't lose any hair to speak of but I did take precautions. I still take Biotin, I use Nioxin Shampoo, conditioner and scalp treatment. I only wash my hair every other day. I still colored it though. I had to. Lol. But I didn't want to take any chances. I made sure I got in all my Protein, Water and Vitamins also. I am 8 months out and have been at goal for 2 months.

I have extremely thin hair already and will have surgery on June 3rd. I am so worried about losing what hair I do have! It's good to know that not everyone loses but I have a feeling that I will. Then I will be bald. I'm not far from it now!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
