HarleyNana 10 Posted October 28, 2004 Since my band date is not until Dec 6, I'm eating enough for all of you, not really. Although I have not made the best choices, I have thought about the bites, the chewing. It's amazing even though no surgery yet, how concious you become of every bite...I'll go check on that fudge for you Betty.
Rebeccalee 2 Posted October 28, 2004 I put this on the wrong thread....here it is again
New Hope 37 Posted October 28, 2004 Becky, I love this!! Betty certainly has earned it! Harleynana, that is TOO cruel about that fudge! LOL
blossom 2 Posted October 28, 2004 Betty, my dr actually gave me printed instructions of what I can and can't have. It's mostly clear liquid.< /p> Becky, that is so cute!!
Zoe 6 Posted October 28, 2004 HarleyNana, have a big piece of cheesecake for me and tell me all about it!
DeLarla 22 Posted October 28, 2004 Betty, everybody around here was given different post-surgery instructions. I only had to do Clear Liquids one week, then one week thick liquids, then mushies. I realize I don't have the right to give medical advice, but I don't see anything wrong with you enjoying some Cream of chicken Soup or thinned mashed potatoes at this stage considering quite a few of us were on mushies at this point, so why not call your doctor's office and ask to speak to his nurse? Tell her how hungry you are - maybe she can get a message to your doctor, who will probably just tell you to try some thick liquids. The way I see it is that your doctor probably won't do any physical testing on you to see if you're ready for the next stage. He'll just talk to you and look at your incisions, don't ya think? I got hungry about 10 days after surgery (same as your timing) so my doc let me jump to thick liquids a couple days early. That thick, warm soup was heavenly and kept me from starving. I put my cream Soups in the blender, and that consistancy isn't much different than a shake anyway, right?
Iluvharleys 15 Posted October 29, 2004 Becky - You got me! That is so cool It makes me want to cry! You sure know how to make a gal feel special! You gals are so great! Each and everyone of you! Marie - You crack me up! You always seem to be there for everyone, including me! Lisa - If I had a lot more time to go, I probably would have given in and had something. But one more day isn't going to kill me, (unless I lose all control) I go at 1:00 tomorrow so I should be able to control myself that long. If not, heck, I'll just take it out on my DH! lol I know some cream Soup won't hurt me, but I just want to follow instructions as close as I can at least for the first 6 weeks. You gals made me forget about feeling so bad! This board is a special place!
hagerteresa 3 Posted October 29, 2004 You both are doing wonderfully and I'm proud of both of you! You'll both make it just fine. I know the liquids are tough and I liked to push my boundaries a little but you both are sticking to it just great. Keep up the good work, Teresa
nightingale2u 42 Posted October 29, 2004 Today is here Betty!!!!! YAY!!! You made it! I'll be curious to hear what your dietician adds to your diet... I'm all for following doctors orders BUT... I am also a sassy brat about healing and health. Good Luck at your appointment and you should be VERY proud of yourself! Becky... I love Betty's award! Awesome! DeLarla 22 Posted October 29, 2004 Betty, today's the big day... did you make it through the night? I think it's really important to get Protein in during any post-surgical procedure since our bodies need it to heal. So let us know what your first bite (or slurp from a spoon) is. Iluvharleys 15 Posted October 29, 2004 I made it! No cheating at all! I am ready to go today at 1:00! They better not call me to cancel either, cause I will be sitting on their doorstep! lol I am ready for that protein! Heck, I am ready for anything at this point. Isn't it funny that you are so ready to eat something and then on the other hand you are wondering if I eat that, will I start to gain? I don't want to gain, however I do know that this is my healing part and I probably will gain some. I feel really good though with the weight I lost. I lost 20 pounds before the band, but put on 6 pounds back on with the hospital and etc. then dropped 20 after surgery, so all in all I have went down about 34 pounds! But, only 20 since banding. And, I don't mean ONLY, 20 pounds for me is a whole lot! Every diet I have ever been on I can be on it a whole year and only lose 20 pounds. I know, I am rambling on, and on, I just feel pretty darn good today and it is showing! I am carrying a smile on my face today and for the first time in a long time I actually feel good about myself! New Hope 37 Posted October 29, 2004 Wow, Betty! I think your dr. just found his new "Poster Child"! Have you called to confirm your appt. today? (My dr. closes on noon on Fridays.) What's your first "meal" going to be? Sit down before you start eating, relax, take slow bites, enjoy. I know that's hard to do when you are finally allowed a little "bite of Heaven!" Boy, I hope your husband doesn't try to "taste"! (Think dog with a big bone!) LOL
Iluvharleys 15 Posted October 29, 2004 I'm not sure what my meal will be since I'm not sure what he is going to let me eat. I guess I will THINK OF SOMETHING (lol) after he tells me. I don't think he will find a poster child in me, I am a very slow loser! Like I said, it took me a whole year to lose 20 pounds! Beside, I take terrible pictures, I always look like I have been on a three day drunk! No, I haven't called, but since they called and moved the appointments yesterday, I don't think there will be a problem. They even verified it again yesterday afternoon. DeLarla 22 Posted October 29, 2004 Betty, he's gonna let you have Soup, I just know he will! And it will be really nice, and you will not gain weight from it. I lived on cream Soups during my thick liquid stage, but one day I ran out. So I just put regular chicken noodle in the blender - I guess you could puree just about anything. Enjoy. The reason I don't change my avatar is cause I have the same baggy eyed, dark circled, sallow skinned 3-day-drunk look on all my pics. I'll try to take a new one this weekend. Rebeccalee 2 Posted October 29, 2004 My doctors are so strict with the diet that they have criticized the following things I ate: cream Soup bite of a banana! refried Beans cocoa anything with sugar They are especially worried about carbs. Then fat. I try to stay moderate. Hmmm....where did that little venting come from? Emotional issues on the loose!!
