Still no answers... Losing hope

Recommended Posts

I have finished my 6 month requirements april 1. I still don't have final insurance approval. May 1 was my surgery date, but that won't happen. I am very discouraged right now. I feel like it's just not going to happen.

Have you followed up with your doctors office. Sometimes they can and will put pressure on the insurance company to get moving. I had a similar situation but it turned out the doctors office screwed up and did not submit my info. They sat on it for 3 weeks.

When I finally got smart enough to call and check on it they were mortified that someone dropped the ball. They submitted my paperwork to insurance in the am. and called my by 2 pm with the approval from insurance.

Don't be afraid to bug the heck out of them, they have some pull.

Good luck! I hope this gets taken care of soon!

It is hard to wait I know but don't borrow trouble either, you may still get a yes. Even if you get a no, that is not the final word, you always have the appeal process. I am living proof that if you work the system, it can work for you! I got 2 denials, hired an advocate and got my YES in the end! So, don't ever give up, if this is your journey , you'll be on it come hell or high water! Good luck!

Push!!! Be a bug. Be a royal pain in the A$$!!!!

Call everyone everyday. Make them sick of hearing your voice.

I had a NUT holding me back. I had done all my steps and this Dr was not signing my clearance sheet because he wasn't getting around to it. Not just mine. He had a stack on his desk. I was two months later than expected having my surgery because of him. At the end of this story, my surgeon decided to no longer send his patients to him because of his behavior. So at least no one else in my city will go through what I did.

They told me it would take 2 weeks for approval. I got a call exactly one month later. I even called after 2 weeks passed, but they said it was still under review by the insurance co. Hang in there, just when I was about to give up, I got a call from the surgical dept. to schedule my surgery. :)

Hi, I am just starting the process for a revision from the lapband to RNY. Wanted to know if anyone has Tufts Healthplan and if you had to go through their "I can change" program. Was it hard to get approval from Tufts? Thanks!

Call call call and ask for a case number that way you know its being reviewed.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
