How are both of you feeling? I am not from FL, Im traveling down to FL from PA for my surgery. Im paying out of pocket as well as you both did if your Florida residents. Who was your doctor, Choi? I have a consultation phone call with him sometime tomorrow when I get the call and to be honest im freaking out, Im afraid for some reason (which i cannot think of even the slightest bit why) they would deny me. what was your consultation like with the doctor? what did he ask? I am extremely excited but I am also very anxious and nervous of course.

I'm not sure as to why they would deny you. My 1st consultation was pretty much going over my insurance requirements and what I needed in order to get approved. Have you contacted your insurance to see what they require

@Vsvgal yes I have contacted them and my insurance here in Pa doesn't cover it. I can take it to have it "appealed" and plead my case but I know many people that have had to do this and it is like an 18 month process before they get their surgery done. My dad went through it. Numerous tests, EKG's and psychological testing. I have the money saved and have been wanting this for so long and now I have over and above what it's going to cost and to be honest I don't think 18 months of testing and what my dad went through is worth knowing that I'll get it done anyway. And to be even more honest I'm tired of waiting. The last year I have tried weight watchers, fitgirl and YMCA memberships even with my husband helping me and nothing was working.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
