I am going 2morrow for my weigh in 1st in a month. Lil bit nervous. I hv really tried my best if anything i hv gone over that 10 or so grams. Before surgery if i ate Any carbs at all i wld just blow up. I had just saw sugar free pudding had 14 grams, been eating those for awhile with no vlue. So i feel stupid i let that by me, and how much i hv lost. Do any of you guys and girls hover over 30 or more and still eat like we eat as far as tiny meals throughout the day with 60-80grams of Protein. The rest of my diet is meat and lil bit if veges and popsicles! Any guidance wld be awesome!

I ate less than 20 carbs a day for the first 5 months post op. It is hard to do because you can't eat much fruits and vegetables. My carb intake increased to 60 after 5 months and I still kept losing weight. I was certain that I had to keep my carb intake dramatically low (there were many weeks I ate less than 10 carbs a day) in order to lose weight. Apparently, that is not necessarily true. Or, maybe my metabolism is functioning differently now so that I can handle an increase in carbs and still lose weight. I'm just not certain.

You may try increasing your carb intake and see if it has any effect on your weight loss. I'm sure you know that the carbs that come from sugar and starches are a bad idea. It's best to get your carbs from fruits and vegetables. Be aware that the carb count from fruits and vegetables varies quite a bit. For example, cauliflower has much fewer carbs than peas or corn. Foods like bananas, cranberries, carrots, potatoes, apple juice, orange juice, Bagels, bread, dry Cereal, popcorn, rice, lima Beans, ketchup, Pasta, and raisins have a very high carb count. The book, "The Zone" is a great resource to have when counting daily carbs. It explains the glycemic index of carbohydrates in a variety of foods.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
