Consider the sources. Bitter unhappy people I bet. Hold your head up and ignore them, no response at all. Just ignore, they will get the point

Here is my personal favorite- "you better slow down , you are going to be skinnier than ME!" As if my weight loss had anything at all to do with her! Classic narcissist

I feel your pain. I'm only 6 days post op and told NOBODY except my sister because I don't want to deal with ppl's ignorance, questions, and unsolicited comments. This is your personal journey and yours only. It is simply nobody else's business or place to make such comments. I have had many many comments / questions posed to me about my weight prior to surgery. I simply answered with " my weight is not something you should not concern yourself with". That puts ppl I'm a uncomfortable position and they will not comment again. The questions and comments that have been posed to me have been absurd, insensitive, nervy, and ignorant to say the least. Took all I had to deliver my message with eloquence and not hostility and not want to slap the dumb bitches and assholes!

In addition , unless you make it other ppl's business or ask for advice., the only thing ppl should be saying to you is " you look great, keep up whatever you're doing" or something to that effect.

"My weight is not an open topic for discussion." (Unless of course I start it!)

People that insult other people for losing weight with surgery don't know what it's like to have some kind of a disease that that overpowers them they don't understand how anybody can be as big as we are. Just laugh at them all the way to the gym. Be proud you have the guts to stand up and do something about your health. what are they doing for themselves? nothing. they're trying to feel better by making fun of you. know you're better off than they are.

My answer to that, after looking said person up and down.... "no, I think I already am...."

This is the exact reason I have not. and will not tell anyone that I had WLS. I am not embarrassed at all, I actually proud that I made a decision to improve my life. I just hate the ignorance of people. I mean if I were an alcoholic and went to treatment, do you think people would be rude about it? No they would be supportive. Same isn't true for weight related issues and addictions to food. It's sad. I rather keep people guessing "what's she doing to look so fab"....really keep the gossip wheel turning.

You're nicer than me. I would have to reply with something like "yes, i have lost a lot of weight. Do you want the number of my surgeon?" or "I feel so much better since my surgery. Maybe you should consider plastic surgery. It can't be fun walking around looking like a Halloween mask all the time." or something just as tacky and uncouth. LOL

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
