How soon after surgery did you try pizza? I'm only six weeks out so I won't be eating pizza for awhile but I was just curious when other people tried it for the first time.

Well, I'm a sleeve so it might be different for a bypass. I had a slice of cheese at about 2 months out. Managed about half.

pizza was always my absolute favorite... hey, I'm from Jersey LOL. I missed it desperately or thought I did. Honestly, the magic wasn't there. Although I will certainly have it again sometime in the future, I haven't had it since and don't miss it. Not a bad thing I think ????

pizza is ultimately a favorite of mine. Close to the 5 month mark as a sleever I have stayed away from pizza because of the carbs however I have made alternatives. One with cauliflower and one with baked cheese. They are not bad but of course as good as the real thing. I am surviving :)

I am three weeks out of RNY. My wife bought a pie Saturday night-mushrooms and bell peppers. It smelled so good I couldn't stand it. I ate the toppings off of one piece-cheese and all. I chewed the heck out of it. I was full for 3 hrs. No ill effects. No crust though.

pizza was my fave. I'm six months out and haven't had any yet. I do hear of people eating the top off the crust.

I have had a very small slice of thin crust pizza. It had all the fabulous vegetables, sausage and pepperoni. It was fabulous but extremely filling and not something I would make a habit out of. It was for a birthday meal for my father n law. I was six months post op and have not had it since.

By the way, I made sure that was a big workout day for me.

Yeah, pizza is not really on the list of things we should be eating. Of course, then there is reality! lol. I have had pizza but as others mentioned, I only ate the toppings. I think I usually have one real bite, crust and all but the rest is just the toppings. Work supplies lunch on occasion and it is usually pizza because it feeds so many so cheaply. I think I have gotten them into the habit of making sure at least one pie has chicken on it.

Well I had thin crust cheese pizza for the first time since December and it was yummy!!!!! It will probably be another couple months before I do it again. The crust was paper thin though and I got am

8 inch individual pizza and only ate half. It was interesting because I'm terrified of food. But no problems. I'm glad you're wise enough to know that you're going to need longer than 6 weeks before you can have it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
