going back to what "works"

Recommended Posts

I lost 150 pounds to get to goal. The first 100-120 or so came off following a fairly normal protocol. you know, sleever rules. Getting the last 30-40# off to get to goal was like doing hand to hand combat with each pound...haha.

So, after I got to goal, I stabilized for awhile and then lost more. I LIKED being trimmer than where I sit now - right at goal. In addition, I was working out so I looked fit. I feel a bit lumpy looking right now. What i find interesting is that I seem to get more attention from the opposite gender a little plumper than when I was thinner...but I don't care about that. I like fitting into slightly smaller clothes and just being less squishy.

Now, I am back at goal and due to some physical challenges haven't been working out and I have decided I want to look like I did a year ago. So.... I have decided to go back to the techniques I used to get to goal in the first place.

this time, I would like to lose about 12-15 pounds. So, here is what I am doing...

-Set a realistic and yet productive weekly goal for losing

-Write my weight on my bathroom mirror once a week compared to my goal... (dry erase markers are perfect on mirrors!)

-Reduce, and I mean seriously reduce carbs (I am already whining about missing wine!)

-Go back to doing more of my own physical farm work

-Ride my bike 30 minutes a day OR do my Julian Micheals DVD (due to physical problems holding off on my beloved kickboxing)

-Focus. Stay focused on my goals. This keeps me from wandering off track.

Good luck. You can do it. You are such an inspirations to so many of us and everyone is rooting for you. I loved your statement that fighting off those last pounds was like hand to hand combat. That's where I am right now and I feel like I am in a battle. I only have 11 more pounds to go and my body is clinging to each one. I refuse to give in or give up!!

Love your suggestions.

How's it going, @@CowgirlJane?

I love this one: "Write my weight on my bathroom mirror once a week compared to my goal... (dry erase markers are perfect on mirrors!)"

Have never done that one.

I learned about dry erase markers on mirrors when I was studying for a big exam. What a great way to have like a big white board without buying one!

Well, week one did not give me desired results but i am for some reason a bit "holding water" so hoping this is just temporary ... grr

Thanks for posting CGJ! I only need to work on food. You'd think it would be easy. I just need to suck it up and cut the crap. Ugh

This thread inspired me to also go back to basics as i want to knock off the last 25-30 to bring me to goal. In the last 2 days I've lost 2 pounds and have broken through my almost 3 month stall. I write everything down and realize that i was eating as if at goal already vs eating to continue to lose. Im back to low or no fat greek yogurt with 1 packet of stevia in the raw twice a day, 2 hard boiled eggs made as deviled eggs with dijon mustard, 1 med apple per day eaten 1/2 at a time as a snack 2x per day with 1/2 the apple and 2 mini baby bel cheese for each indiv serving Until i wrote down what i was eating vs what i needed to eat to get me to goal i had no idea and kept thinking oh its just a stall. I caused the stall. Once i reach goal i will then resume how i had been eating during my stall as i gained no weight during this time. Oh and Water water water ????

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
