I am 8 weeks out..down 32 pounds and happy.

Just one question before surgery my B12 was 487 now its 1900 when i took my 8 week bloodwork..

Im worried why so high..i thought it would be lower since the sleeve.

Aanyway i take bariatric multi vitamin.1 Iron chewable and 2 soft chews Calcium plus i take 2500 b12 sublingual vitamins..

Can that be why its high

Did anyone ever have this issue?

Yep my B12 has been 2000 for some time now. They reduced the dosage to 1 x a week and now every other week. If it stays high it will likely be discontinued by my doctor. I'm probably getting enough between my multi and food nutrients. I get repeat bloodwork then and will discuss it with my doctor.

I couldn't figure out why I was having trouble sleeping for a couple of weeks. After reading over my paperwork for the umpteenth time, the B12 is only once a week and I was taking it every day. I did not realize the effect of too much B12.

Sounds to me like you are taking much too high a dose of B12. I was told to only take 500 mcg daily.

I am 7mth post op. I take the sublingual B12. Initially it was 1 dropper every other day. Then once a week, now every other week. Likely it will be dropped from my routine.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
