I can't do bread, Buns, tortilla shells, cake, muffins. I can sometimes do a piece of ww toast if it's really toasty and hard.

Wheat thins, rice cakes, soy crisps all go down well.

I am pretty lucky. I don't eat bread because their is no nutritional value, but I know if I chew something well enough, and take itty bitty bites, I can eat just about anything.

I seem to have a problem eating any kind of meat unless it has been boiled to shreds in a Soup. Sometimes eggs cooked any style, bread, any type of cake and rice. And last but not least anything fried or breaded. Actually my band is so fickle she changes weekly sometimes daily in what she will allow me to eat.(I named my band Ofc. Bandy as in food police officer)LOL!!!

I got stuck on cooked broccoli tonight. I didn't chew it well enough and I didn't wait long enough in between bites. It's definitely a new way to eat, once you have the band!

I'm VERRRRY tight right now, but here's mine:

ANYTHING before noon.

Any meat unless it's in a Soup.< /p>

Pretty much any big carbs- bread, potato, rice, chips, etc.

It works out great for me because those carbs were what put the most weight on me in the first place!

Rice ( I run from this like a tsunami )

bread like loaf bread in the store.

spaghetti

Tomato sauce like marinara messes my stomach up so I stay away from it.

Hi There,

I will be banded August 20th and I know I will start with the Clear liquids. How do you handle the fact that you cannot enjoy food they way you used to? Also, do people use toddlers sippy cup to drink from? And, can people tolerate some coffee in the morning? Thanks for answering my questions.

Hi there. I'm going to speak for just me but honestly, my taste buds changed. Yup. After the surgery it was like I could care less if I saw anything sugary ever again. Weird. So having some restriction ( think Thanksgiving FULL before you overstuff ) puts a cap on wanting to eat like you use to.

If you want a sippy cup, go for it. I drink my liquids from a bottle, room temp (because cold makes the stomach constrict) and I drink my liquids anytime but with food. I stop drinking 30 minutes before I eat dinner and don't drink until 30 minutes after. The idea is to fill your stomach pouch with only food instead of liquid and food. That's what I was told so that's what I do.

coffee. I drink coffee daily. I'm a coffee snob. Gevalia Kona. My drink of choice. Toast to you love. Best of luck. I'm so glad I had this done and only wish I had it sooner!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
