Spin Class

Recommended Posts

So tonight I did my first spin class. OMG it was hard work. I felt it was a victory that I made it through the entire class.

However, I have a question. Is it normal to have pain in the groin area from the seat?? I felt like a fire breathing animal was chewing my crotch off. My pelvic bones are so sore. I think if I can get used to the pelvic pain I would like the class. Guess I need to tough up my bones or find some padded underwear. LOL

Invest in the padded gel biking shorts. They are worth every penny. I have two pairs since they need to be washed by hand. ~LA

I LOVE spinning!! I have purchased a gel seat at Walmart ($10). You will be sore the first couple classes. Don't be afraid to stand up during the class even if the instructor is not telling you to. Spinning is great because you get to determine how hard you work! Just make sure you adjust your calories for the day of the class.

Hurt like hell the first few times but I guess your bits must toughen up after a while lol

Very normal. I don't do spinning very often because it takes awhile to get used to the pain. When I do do it, I bring along one of those gel seats that you can slide over the spinning bike and that minimizes the misery. I don't tend to feel pain in my groin as much as my tailbone. I avoid sitting too far forward, which places a lot more pressure on the groin area, and my position is more where the pressure is placed on the middle of my butt. Nonetheless, it hurts for awhile, but you do eventually get used to it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
