6 days to go. . . Pre plan for?

I'm feeling ready for surgery. However , I felt that way before my son was born and we had an emergency c-section. I wished I had done laundry and other random things. What do you wish you had done before surgery? Or what did you do?

My surgery is this Friday, and I've been "nesting" for the last week. Tying up loose ends with home renovations, laundry, shopping for post op things, etc. having never had kids, it was a strange compulsion to me.

We went to the grocery store, I did all the laundry, I set up my "temporary" bedroom on the first floor, so I wouldn't have to climb into the tall king size bed on the 3rd floor. (super glad I decided to to this!!). I got the vacuuming and dusting done and got the little bit I'd need for an over night at the hospital the night before. Nothing was forgotten, and I was all set when I got home. I had everything I would need, as far as liquids for after surgery. Oh, and I went to the hospital pharmacy beforehand also, and got my lovenox syringes so I wouldn't forget those. (super important to not forget those!)

Thank you! They didn't tell me about the shots. Kinda interesting. . . Something else to worry about :-(

I made sure my laundry was done, my sheets were clean, and my house was generally clean. I also made sure that I had Protein Drinks, sugar free jello/popsicles, tea, broth, and some juice.< /p>

I have a temporary room also, it's actually my 4 year olds room and he is quite enjoying the company lol. Not everyone will have the shots, I just had 1 before surgery and one after. It's something to ask your doc about. But basically. Launder everything from clothes to linens and organize your post op area if that makes sense. All my Jello sand broths are separate and organized away from everyone. Pack your hospital bag, toiletries and chargers and creature comforts. But do make sure you have your other meds for pain, stomach coating and whatnot befor surgery.

@@Flairness If the shots weren't mentioned to you, then don't worry about them. If you had to do them, it would not be a surprise, you'd already know about them. Sorry if I scared you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
