Runny nose, sneezing, burping after eating...

Recommended Posts

So pretty much every time I eat I get full quick from a small amount. That's what the surgery does. But I am also very uncomfortable, my nose starts to run uncontrollably , I start sneezing over and over again while nose is running , and then burp many times of the course of like 15 minutes. This happen to anyone else.

Thx

My hubby is getting the same thing. He will be 3 weeks post op on Friday. Surgery date was 4/10.

I would suggest eating like 2 bites less with each meal. I wonder if your body is telling you that you are eating too much or too fast.

I burp a lot, as well, and was told this will be forever. I'm hoping as my hernia repair gets fully healed this will lessen. No sneezing, though. I do get the runny nose from spicier foods. Good luck to you!

Sometimes I get a runny nose and / or hiccups as a full signal. The doc looked at me like I was crazy when I asked about it, but it seems like too many people get it to be a coincidence.

But hey, at least I don't have to fully rely on my greedy and somewhat unreliable tummy anymore :)

Fifteen months post-op, I still get all of that. Most frequently, Miss Tummy communicates through hiccups. That is my warning She is saying, "I double dog dare you to eat that last bite"

Yep, hiccups and runny nose for me but only if I eat too much. That's my sign to STOP.

Runny nose, hiccups, burping are all part of my full signals, some times separately, sometimes all together !

At least I am not alone. I do think I eat to fast. Sad part is I am hardly eating anything. My wife who has lost over 100 lbs since December can eat almost double than me and also drink fluids at the same time to wash things down. I cannot drink and eat and eat less. She had the bypass. I thought it would be opposite between the 2 surgeries as I heard the bypass was more restrictive.

I read the runny nose is a result of the vagus nerve being moved when taking the stomach out. Since my surgery I have had a runny nose. But if I start burping I have to stop eating, or I will wind up with the hiccups -- also have that when I eat too fast.

LOL ...:D

Same happens to me but in particular season of fall in February when the winter ends and summer start.

I always feel sneezing and in fact, start sneezing before lunchtime when body clock throw alert and gallbladder start releasing acid in the lever which starts producing gases. When the gas increased and start moving upward for burping, I feel like it creates little pressure irritation in nose and trigger sneezing. It is really crazy and uncomfortable feeling as eyes start tearing and runny nose for at least a minute. After burping, everything looks normal like nothing happened.

The same cycle continues after lunch or dinner till food is digested and stop creating gases.

Many people say that this is due to pollen in the atmosphere or body's internal system preparing for coming days of summer.

What medical science says about this? any doctor, please comment.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
