Feeling sick after eating

Recommended Posts

I have to take two Omeprazole capsules daily. One in the morning and one in the evening. So 40mgs daily. Prescribed by my surgeon. (same as Prilosec). I open the capsules into Jello or unsweetened applesauce. and do not chew the medicine. That's how I do it. Seems to work great, I have had no issues with being sick after my surgery.

What kind of antacid are you on? That could be a major player in this situation. You should really expect the puking part at your stage, nice, thick creamy foamy puke. Good luck

Puking is not uncommon, but certainly not to be expected. I never threw up or had the slimes. I made it a point to eat nice and slow. Those are all symptoms of eating too fast.

Does anyone have/had The feeling in your chest...when you drink a slushy really fast and it freezes your head or chest...that kinda of feeling ..... I'm sure it's heartburn but I'm just on liquids, I'm not even getting all my liquids in yet I'm only 5 days out on liquids, when you drink a slushy really fast and it freezes your head or chest...

I'm 3 mo's out and still have this feeling. It's like an air bubble that is stuck with the food and nothing comes up or goes down. Even in 3 mo's time, I have to remind myself at every single meal to eat slow! I'm sure I take too big of bites and eat too fast, causing this, but yes....I'm with you on this!

May 10th will be five months for me and I still get the bubble in the throat, even if I just take a big gulp of Water.

I went to the store yesterday and bought the Omeprazole and I am having the best day since my

surgery. It really does work, at least it has for me. I was able to eat Soup today without

suffering.

I know for me that was normal. I still get a yuck feeling every once in a while. Your body will adapt over time. Just eat slowly and you will be okay.

Thank you everyone for your feedback and your advice! I tried something more solid yesterday and chewed it really good ! It stayed down!

What do you find is the best soft foods to eat at the soft food stage?

I'm struggling to find things because I don't eat eggs or tuna and on my sample meal plans there is always eggs and tuna.

I lived on fat free refried Beans with a bit of cheese during the soft foods stage because not much else agreed with me at the time.

Kathrine1970,

Sounds like you got the reassurance you need. Could be just the first time you ate something more solid than yogurt, or it could be you developed a food intolerance to the fish or carrots. Like the others said, try one food at a time (so you can determine if it’s fish or carrots or neither) and be patient. If it really is an intolerance, it could take days or weeks or months to work itself out, and the only thing you can do to help is to not push it. If your body doesn’t take it, it doesn’t take it.

Good luck. You’re doing well!
