chelleshocked 130 Posted April 27, 2015 My info was submitted to insurance last Wednesday. I called my insurance today to make sure they got it and they told me it was reviewed and approved today!!! ???????????????? they said a letter would go out to my doc office and a copy to me. I went ahead and called my True Results insurance advocate today to let her know. Hopefully I will know something this week. It's getting real now!!! Woohoo ☺️

queencity 62 Posted May 30, 2015 Congrats, I'm just beginning to do some research on weight loss surgery. My understanding was that if you have sleep apnea you don't qualify for surgery. Could someone explain that to me, thanks.
chelleshocked 130 Posted May 31, 2015 @cecilialee220 My BMI is 43, no comorbidity requirement for insurance. Do you mind me asking what your bmi was and did you have any comorbities?
momma_missie 30 Posted June 1, 2015 I think you can have sleep apnea, but it has to be diagnosed and being treated with CPAP for then to do surgery. I have a friend who had to bring her machine with her when she had her surgery.
vanessak8 158 Posted June 1, 2015 (edited) My insurance was if BMI >40 you qualified with no comorbidities. If >35 but less < 40 you needed to have comorbidities. These included HTN, DM, OSA, heart disease etc Edited June 1, 2015 by vanessak8

Running2theSleeve 40 Posted June 24, 2015 This is great news to hear! I have BCBS IL and spoke with CS rep to go over my benefits. She was really helpful and even directed me to BCBS site to read the requirements. And now you confirmed it- BMI>40 qualifies me with no comorbities. Did you have to get your PCP to sign off or was your Surgeon recommendation suffient? Along with psych eval and netting with Dietician - what else did you have to do? So happy for you!
