kimmom 5 Posted June 15, 2007 Hello, I am getting a bit concerned due to the extreme gas pain that comes and goes. Today I am 10 days post op and the gas is as bad as the first few days. It seemed to go away then come back just as bad. I am doing everything I can to help it , walking, taking gas-ex which does nothing getting on my hands and knees, following the diet exactly and not using a straw. I was thinking what if there is some other way that air is leaking in my stomach maybe a stich in the stomach made a slight hole and when I breathe it leaks in ??? Is that far fetched or is anything like that possible ? The pain is so bad it feels like the worst belly ache in the world caused by living creatures inside me, feels like so much rumbling and banging around. Do you think it is normal for 10 days post op to have this happen , should I be worried ? Thanks so much for your thoughts I am suffereing . Kim
MintyFresh 0 Posted June 15, 2007 Kim, I'm very interested in finding out the answer you get. Though I do think a call to your Dr.'s office would be a good idea and perhaps talk to the nurse there just for your piece of mind. At least if it isn't the "norm", they can tell you whether you need to worry or not or give you suggestions as to what to do to relieve it better. Hope you feel better soon! JLB 0 Posted June 15, 2007 Hi Kim, I feel for you. I am just 5 weeks post-op and I had terrible gas for quite a few weeks. Lots of rumbling and banging around as well. In fact, I got to a point where I thought that it was just not humanly possible to have that much gas - but unfortunately, it is. The good news is... it does get better with time. Some people have it worse than others so it's difficult to say how long yours will last. Keep walking and use a heating pad if it helps you. I also found that laying on my sides, and flipping from side to side until some passed was helpful. I still have gas today but it's not near as bad as it was 3 weeks ago - not even close. As for the stitch thing, I'm no medical professional but I would think that is not possible. But hey, I appreciate your creative thought. Keep smilin' - it will get better! tracy226 0 Posted June 16, 2007 I wonder why some people have the gas pains and some don't. I've read about people being in pain from 1 week to a few weeks and some people go home the same day and have NO pain or problems!? What could be making the difference? Try some warm tea or warm Soup, that makes the gas come down and out...at least that's what I was told and it worked for me.
